Melania Trump’s Halloween Display Gives Critics the Creeps

From the woman who was once caught on tape complaining about planning White House holiday celebrations, Melania Trump put her stamp on the Halloween decor as only she can. That is, with a lot of creepiness and no vision whatsoever. I’m sorry, but when she could have done anything to the outside of the house, proven true by Donald Trump, who has done whatever he wants to the inside of the White House, she chose a bunch of pumpkins and some fake leaves.

Melania posted a photo of her work on her official account on X (formerly Twitter) and people are not impressed. Never mind the fact that she used dozens of pumpkins, which are technically food, to line the exterior stars on the part of the building on the South Lawn. But she posted about it as though there is not a national food crisis. It’s giving “let them eat cake,” and it’s not a good look. Literally and figuratively speaking.

Melania Trump technically used literal food to decorate the White House for Halloween.

Among the Melania Stans in the comment of her X post, there were plenty of critics who were quick to call out how creepy or boring the display looks. And no, not creepy in a deliberate way. More like, creepy in an American Psycho way that no one asked for.

One user even commented, “Scary how warped the image came out” in reference to the edited image that Melania posted to X.

Someone else joked, “I assumed it already started way back in January. It has looked like Halloween ever since.”

Another person called Melania’s decorations a “spooky spectacle” and wrote, “It’s like the First Lady decided to turn a symbol of national unity into a haunted house of political theatrics.”

Others pointed out the amount of pumpkins used in the display and the question of whether or not it even looks good.

Spoiler alert, it does not, in fact, look good.

I’m not sure if Melania really thought she was doing something with her Halloween display, but it’s creepy in a really unsettling way. And, at a time where the country is suffering in a way that’s hard to ignore, it’s extremely thoughtless.

OK, now that I’m off my soap box, let’s just agree that Melania’s Halloween display is not giving what she wants.

Though to be fair, and it;s really, really, hard to be fair with Melania here, she has always used fake fall leaves and an abhorrent amount of pumpkins to decirate the White House for fall festivities. It’s her thing at this point. So I guess it’s also her thing to display some poor taste in her Halloween decor?

On another post about the White House decorations, someone said in the comments, “It’s scary enough already,” likely in regards to the country as a whole, which is totally fair.

Elsewhere on X, someone posted, “How can you mess up Halloween decor? Just ask Melania.”
