The dress that Melania Trump wore when she married President Donald Trump in 2005 is reportedly for sale. In a listing on eBay, a seller who goes by Svjabc1 on the website claims they purchased the dress from the first lady before selling it. The seller says they bought the dress for $70,000. It’s now priced at $45,000.
The seller said the dress has been worn twice.
In the listing, the seller claimed that the dress is “authentic” but altered. “Because Melania Trump was a size 0-2 I had to have this dress made a little bigger as I was a size 4-6,” they wrote. The seller went on to describe a few more changes that were allegedly made: “I added a new layer of satin to the bottom of the dress and a few more embroidery pieces on the top, plus there was a new layer of fabric that was added to the back of the dress and straps.”
According to the seller, the dress has been worn twice: once by Melania, and once by them.
Details about Melania’s wedding dress have resurfaced because of the listing.

Previously, in February 2005, Melania Trump graced the cover of Vogue. The cover read, “Donald Trump’s New Bride: The Ring, the Dress, the Wedding, the Jet, the Party.” Now that Melania’s dress is allegedly for sale, details from the 2005 Vogue feature have resurfaced.
Per Women’s Wear Daily, the dress, which was designed by John Galliano for Dior couture, required 1,000 hours of work to complete. The dress reportedly cost $187,000 at the time.
Is Melania’s wedding dress really for sale?
In the eBay listing, the seller said the dress “was made of duchesse satin and featured a figure-hugging silhouette, a 90-meter voluminous skirt, and embroidered with 1500 Swarovski diamonds.” The listing includes photos of the alleged Melania Trump wedding gown. However, several outlets have reported that Melania’s wedding dress is actually in storage, and presumably, not for sale.
Hervé Pierre, who is Melania’s stylist, said Melania’s dress is stored in Palm Beach, Florida, The New York Times reported. The designer said this happened just “two years ago,” according to the news outlet.
Women’s Wear Daily also reported that Melania’s wedding dress is currently stored at Mar-a-Lago, according to an unnamed source.
The listing has been live since January, but recently went viral.
Writer Liana Satenstein first publicized the wedding dress listing on Substack on March 25. Liana wrote that “the seller said she was a friend of one of Melania’s friends who brokered the deal so she could buy it from Mrs. Trump. She purchased it for $70,000 for her own wedding back in 2011.” After that, the dress was allegedly stored in a box before the seller listed it on eBay.
When sharing details about the eBay listing, Liana included a disclaimer: “I do not know if this dress is authentic, and I do not know the dealer personally. Anyway, Melania, let a girl know — call me!”
