Melissa Joan Hart Gets Roasted After She Falls for AI Shopping Scam

It feels like AI is everywhere these days, so while it’s more important than ever to be able to tell what’s real and what is computer generated, it’s also quickly becoming more difficult to detect. And now, Sabrina the Teenage Witch star Melissa Joan Hart has fallen victim to a pretty common AI shopping scam herself.

Apparently, she couldn’t figure out that the dress she ordered online looked so unreal simply because it is unreal, and now, she’s being roasted for her error in judgment.

Melissa admitted to her blunder in a post on Instagram.

In her post, Melissa shared a photo of the dress she thought she was buying online, compared to the one she actually received. in the photo she snagged from the store’s website, it looks like a totally over the top (but gorgeous) holiday dress, with so much detailing that it was a bit obvious that it couldn’t possibly be real… but not to Melissa, it seems.

The actual dress ended up having all of those beautiful designs printed directly onto the thin fabric, and it was nothing like the one she thought she was buying.

“What I ordered…. what I received!” she wrote in her caption. “Online ordering sucks! Going rogue for my fancy ugly sweater look this year now. PS this looks better in the photo than it does in person. #blurry.”

Now, she’s being relentlessly dragged for her mistake.

On Reddit, so many commenters are roasting Melissa for not realizing that this dress was AI before she ordered it.

“Celebs: They are just like our boomer parents,” one commenter wrote.

Another said, “I’m sorry that this sounds so mean but its hard for me to comprehend that there are people this stupid.”

Fortunately, some people are much more understanding of how this could have happened.

While there are still plenty of people poking fun at Melissa in the comments of her Instagram posts, over there, the mood seems to be a bit more charitable.

“We all have been fooled at least few times,” one of her followers wrote, adding a heart emoji.

This definitely won’t be a mistake she makes twice, so maybe it was a good learning opportunity? And as she’s shared on Instagram since the original post, she’s making her own “ugly” dress for the Christmas party, which will no doubt turn out better than the one she ordered. It can’t possibly get worse, right?
