
On Wednesday, fans were shocked when news broke that Gossip Girl and Buffy star Michelle Trachtenberg had unexpectedly died at the age of 39. As Michelle’s family and friends mourn her loss, more details about her final days are coming to light – including that she may have known there was a “high possibility” she could die before she was found unresponsive.

News of Michelle’s death broke on February 26.
The New York Post was the first to report that her mother found her at her Manhattan apartment on Wednesday morning. Michelle reportedly underwent a liver transplant in the last year, and sources told the news outlet that she was found to have died of natural causes.
A friend of Michelle’s opened up about the loss in an Instagram post.
In her caption, friend and photographer Amanda de Cadenet wrote, “What sad news this morning to wake up to. It feels weird and awful to be posting this, but I want to acknowledge your death because I cared about you. I’m grateful we got to connect ,especially in the last few months. I will always remember you as the young vivacious woman I met when I took this photo of you … Wishing you a peaceful transition sweet friend and may your spirit finally rest.”
According to Page Six, in an earlier version of the post, Amanda wrote, “I will not share the details of our conversations over the last 6 months, but you knew that death was a high possibility and I am only sorry that the outcome was not a better one.”

Michelle’s mom spoke to her the night before she died.
TMZ reported that Michelle’s mom, Lana, saw her at 10 p.m. Tuesday night, and Michelle had been well enough to go out with friends just days earlier. The news outlet also pointed out that she may have been suffering from complications of the liver transplant that may have included both her liver and thyroid, and it is reportedly possible she had rejected the transplant.
A source claimed Michelle was ‘really sick’ over the past year.
“She told friends she was struggling,” the insider, who claims to be a friend of Michelle’s, told People. “She was really, really sick and open with those in her circle about how much she was struggling.”
When the source saw her, she was reportedly “very thin” and “really down emotionally.”
