For some time now, people have been speculating about whether Miranda Lambert will have kids. After she and her current husband, Brendan McLoughlin, got married, people started wondering if and when the couple would be welcoming a new addition to their family. Multiple news outlets reported that they were trying to do so, citing sources, while others reported that Miranda did not see herself having children.
Now, the country star is opening up about something she’s been focusing on since she doesn’t have children herself.

She is focusing on mentoring younger artists.
Miranda, 40, recently spoke about being child-free. On Bunnie Xo’s Dumb Blonde podcast, she explained that she has been able to focus on mentoring younger artists because she is not a mom herself.
“Since I don’t have children of my own, I want to use that part of what I’ve learned for younger generations, especially of artists, because nobody tells you how this goes,” she explained on the podcast.
“Nobody sits there and gives you a handbook of, like, ‘Well, when you make it to this level, this is what’s gonna happen,'” she continued.
Working with younger people inspires her as well.
Although she hopes she can provide some guidance to younger generations, she also gains something from mentoring them.
“Just seeing the fire in the eyes of someone just starting out, it reignites your fire,” she said, explaining how this helps her deal with burnout.
“Being around that new fire and young people that are so hungry and so inspired is like, ‘I want some of that,’ you know?” she said. “And I wanna give them some of the wisdom and some of the reminders [to] enjoy the ride.”

People have long speculated about Miranda's decision to have (or not have) kids.
In 2022 and 2023, news outlets such as Us Weekly reported that Miranda was trying to have a baby, citing “sources.” By 2024, some publications were reporting that she doesn’t want to be a mom, also citing “sources.”
In May 2024, InTouch reported that a source said, “Miranda says her life is full without being a mom, and that she and Brendan are super happy just the way things are.
“She likes to say, ‘Never say never,’ but she’s 40, and right now kids just aren’t in her future,” the source concluded.
Miranda has opened up about being a stepmom.
Many people have wondered if Miranda and her husband Brendan have plans to grow their family, but Brendan already has a son, making Miranda a stepmom. In 2019, Miranda told Extra that her stepson is “amazing.”
“I’m loving that whole phase,” she said at the time. “This is a whole new journey. It’s great.”
She's also an animal lover.
Speaking to Extra in 2019, Miranda joked about how she had lots of dogs when she and her husband tied the knot. “He’s a great guy and, bless his heart, he didn’t have any dogs or any animals at all when he came into this relationship, so he inherited a whole barn full,” Miranda shared at the time, calling herself “a crazy dog lady.”
