The Best New Content Coming to Netflix in July 2022

It's summer, and naturally there will be plenty of hot and muggy days when we will all just want to sit around in the air conditioning and watch a good movie or indulge in a binge-watching session of a new TV show (or even an old favorite). So we're happy to see that Netflix is adding lots of new goodies to its streaming library this July.

There will be several brand-new and highly anticipated offerings, including the final two episodes of Stranger Things and an original film starring Ryan Gosling, Chris Evans, and Regé-Jean Page. Talk about eye candy!

We're also looking forward to a new series starring To All the Boys I've Loved Before lead Lana Condor, as well as the return of a few classics from the late 1990s and early 2000s. Kids will also have plenty of new content to enjoy on Netflix this July, including new seasons of some popular animated shows and a new feature film from one of the directors of Moana.

We're sharing some of the titles we're most excited about watching when they drop in July, but this list is by no means exhaustive. There are dozens of other options coming this month, so be sure to be on the lookout every time you click open the app.

'Mean Girls'

Coming to Netflix: July 1

There won't ever be a time when we don't want to watch the cult classic teen movie that is Mean Girls. We can't recall when it was last available on Netflix, so if you're a fan or if — gasp — you've never actually seen the hilarious film, now's your chance to catch it before it disappears from the streamer again.

'Stranger Things' (Season 4 Volume 2)

Coming to Netflix: July 1

After four hugely intriguing and entertaining seasons, the final two episodes of Netflix's hugely popular Stranger Things series are coming out on July 1. The first is about 90 minutes long, and the second runs for more than two hours, so you should definitely prepare as if you're watching a movie. Get comfy and keep all your snacks and drinks close by.

'The Blair Witch Project'

Coming to Netflix: July 1

If you're a fan of horror movies, The Blair Witch Project is an absolute must-see. People have always been divided about whether it's actually good or not, but one thing's for certain: It changed the genre. It's a forerunner in the "found-footage" style that paved the way for movies such as Paranormal Activity.

'Hello, Goodbye, and Everything in Between'

Coming to Netflix: July 6

A brand-new Netflix original rom-com, Hello, Goodbye, and Everything in Between stars Julia Benson, Jennifer Robertson, and Jordan Fisher. It's about high school sweethearts who agree to break up before they head off to college — but not before retracing the steps of their relationship on one last epic date.

'The Flash' (Season 8)

Coming to Netflix: July 7

The eighth season of the popular CW show The Flash, starring Grant Gustin and Candice Patton, drops on Netflix this month. Based on the DC Comics character, the long-running series is a fan favorite among the various titles in the franchise. It's the perfect time to binge the whole series right from the beginning.

'Karma's World' (Season 3)

Coming to Netflix: July 7

Created by rapper and actor Ludacris, Karma's World is an adorable and impactful animated series for kids. The lead character is perfect for children who have an affinity for music, and the episodes are chock-full of lessons about being a good human and believing in yourself.

'Boo, Bitch'

Coming to Netflix: July 8

We are honestly so excited about the new Lana Condor comedy from Netflix, Boo, Bitch, which is a limited series about two high school best friends. When one of them dies and comes back as a ghost, without them even realizing it, it puts a damper on their plans to close out their senior year. We just know this one is going to be a hilarious guilty pleasure.

'The Sea Beast'

Coming to Netflix: July 8

The Sea Beast is a new Netflix original animated film from one of the directors of Disney's Moana. About a young girl who ends up being a stowaway on a pirate ship full of monster hunters, it's an adventure story that will appeal to kids of various ages, making it a wonderful option for family movie night.

'12 Strong'

Coming to Netflix: July 10

Thor: Love and Thunder hunk Chris Hemsworth sure knows how to anchor a war movie. In 2018's 12 Strong, he plays a member of the first Special Forces team to arrive in Afghanistan after the 9/11 terrorist attacks. The team is tasked with taking down the Taliban alongside an Afghan warlord, largely on horseback. Unbelievably, it's based on a true story.

'How To Change Your Mind'

Coming to Netflix: July 12

Based on the fascinating 2018 book of the same name by author Michael Pollan, who is best known for his work surrounding food and nutrition, How To Change Your Mind is a four-part documentary series about the history of psychedelics such as LSD, psilocybin, MDMA, and mescaline. Michael himself serves as the viewers' guide.

'Resident Evil'

Coming to Netflix: July 14

No, we're not talking about the movie. Netflix has created a horror series based on the video game franchise. The show takes place 30 years after the "T-virus" was discovered, and it's based on a new outbreak that uncovers previously unknown secrets about the mysterious Umbrella Corporation.

'Pan'

Coming to Netflix: July 15

Pan is sure to be a super fun watch for the kids this summer. Starring Hugh Jackman, Levi Miller, Rooney Mara, and Amanda Seyfried, the 2015 film is a twist on Peter Pan. In this version of the classic tale, Peter is an orphan who discovers his destiny when he's taken away to Neverland.

'Persuasion'

Coming to Netflix: July 15

More than 200 years ago, author Jane Austen wrote the beautifully moving novel Persuasion, and throughout the years it has been adapted for film and TV multiple times. Now, Netflix is giving it a go with a new movie starring Dakota Johnson as the misunderstood Anne Elliot and Henry Golding as the dashing Captain Wentworth. It will no doubt be a must-watch for Austen fans and anyone who likes period dramas such as Bridgerton.

'Uncharted'

Coming to Netflix: July 15

Starring Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg, Uncharted is an adventure-fantasy film that was released in theaters in February 2022. It's about a treasure hunter who convinces a street-smart acquaintance to help him find a fortune that's been lost for 500 years.

'Umma'

Coming to Netflix: July 16

Sandra Oh is such a fantastic actress, and we can't wait to see her take on a horror role in Umma, which had its theatrical release in March 2022. The film's about single mother Amanda, who lives on a farm with her daughter. When her estranged mother, who lives in Korea, dies and her remains are shipped to her, she becomes haunted.

'Virgin River' (Season 4)

Coming to Netflix: July 20

The Netflix series Virgin River was a bit of a breakaway hit when it premiered in 2019. Its fourth season will debut on Netflix this July and promises lots more romance and drama. The show is about a nurse practitioner who moves from Los Angeles to a rural California town in the hopes of starting fresh after a tragedy.

'Jurassic World Camp Cretaceous'

Coming to Netflix: July 21

Hot on the heels of the release of the latest Jurassic Park movie, Jurassic World: Dominion, Netflix is releasing the fifth and final season of its animated series, Jurassic World Camp Cretaceous, which has built a loyal following among kids in the past couple of years. It's about a group of teens attending an adventure camp on Isla Nublar who must band together to survive when dinosaurs wreak havoc.

'The Gray Man'

Coming to Netflix: July 22

The Gray Man, starring Ryan Gosling, Chris Evans, Ana de Armas, and Regé-Jean Page, is one of Netflix's most-anticipated original movies of 2022. It's been almost four years since fans have seen Ryan Gosling in a feature film, and it's sure to be an exciting one. As the story unfolds, a CIA agent discovers dark secrets that the agency has been keeping under wraps and ends up with a bounty on his head.

'Uncoupled'

Coming to Netflix: July 29

Starring Neil Patrick Harris, Uncoupled is a new Netflix sitcom about a man who is completely shocked when his husband announces that he's leaving him. He thought his marriage was perfect, but now finds himself a lonely and single 40-something navigating a very different dating scene than the one he remembers.
