In 2017, Bachelor fans were introduced to Nick Viall as the lead of Season 21. He proposed to Vanessa Grimaldi in the finale, and although she accepted, they called off their engagement that August. Today, Nick Viall and his wife have a daughter, but Natalie Joy recently suffered her second miscarriage in two months.
Nick and Natalie started dating in 2020 after meeting on Instagram and they became engaged in 2023. After they welcomed their first child, a daughter named River Rose Viall, in February 2024, they said “I do” two months later. Sadly, Nick and Natalie just announced a devastating pregnancy loss.
In late March, Natalie revealed she was pregnant for a second time in 2025.
On March 23, Natalie took to her Instagram Stories with a vulnerable update.
“While mourning the loss of our second baby at the beginning of this year, I quickly and very unexpectedly found out I was pregnant again,” she explained.
She continued, “It took some time for me to accept what had happened, only to be handed another chance so easily and so fast. But eventually, I found so much happiness. We were finally in a place of complete and utter gratitude.”
Nick’s wife Natalie revealed a second miscarriage in two months.
“This past week I miscarried again,” Natalie announced. “I underwent a D&C this time which was harder than I imagined.”
A D&C stands for dilation and curettage – a minor surgical procedure that removes tissue from a person’s uterus, per the Cleveland Clinic.
She admitted it will ‘take some time’ to ‘feel like myself again.’
In her IG Story, Natalie confessed, “It’s going to take some time for me to feel like myself again and honestly I may never will but I hope to keep y’all involved in whatever that may look like.”
She concluded, “Going back to squeezing my husband and my sweet angel River Rose who are truly the reason I have survived this time and time again.”
Fans shared their support on Instagram.
Natalie’s Instagram followers couldn’t directly comment on her Instagram Story, but some took to the comments of recent posts to share their love and support following her second pregnancy loss.
One fan wrote, “Sending you all the love Natalie! I’m so sorry for your loss again. ❤️🙏🏻 a new miracle will come when the time is right. You are so loved!”
Another shared, “Dear sweet Natalie: I’m so incredibly sorry for the pain you have endured. May god shine over you with warmth, and protect you and your beautiful family. Sending prayers and loads of healing vibes ✨️❤️🥺.”
In January, Natalie opened up about her first miscarriage.
On a January 29 episode of the couple’s The Viall Files podcast, Natalie and Nick spoke about the unexpected end of her second pregnancy.
“And currently, as I sit here today, I’m actively miscarrying our second child, and it has been the biggest heartbreak, I think, of my life,” Natalie shared. “I’ve never experienced something where I feel so empty inside.”
