Nearly a year has passed since news of Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban‘s divorce went public, and even though their split was finalized months ago, the drama is still going strong. So far, all reports have made it sound like the former couple’s daughters have taken their mom’s side in the divorce, and the latest intel isn’t any different — in fact, one source is making it sound like Keith believes Nicole is actually “poisoning” their girls against him.
A source claims Keith has remained the bigger person in this divorce.
Due to Keith’s busy touring schedule, the custody agreement he and Nicole settled on gives her custody of daughters Sunday Rose, 17, and Faith Margaret, 15, 306 days of the year, so Keith ends up spending just a fraction of the year with his kids.
A source close to the country singer who spoke with In Touch Weekly hinted that he’s not happy with this custody arrangement — or the way his relationship with his daughters has changed in recent months now that they’re spending the majority of their time with their mom.
“He’s kept his side of the street clean and then some,” the insider said. “He doesn’t trash talk Nicole or accuse her of poisoning the kids against him, even though … the cold reality is that they’re not currently a part of his life.”
“He signed the paperwork because it felt like the right thing to do, even though a lot of people were puzzled that he surrendered without any type of fight,” they continued. “But never in a million years did he envisage any scenario this brutal.”
It hurts him to see his kids so happy without being in their lives.
Handing over most of the year to Nicole might have been in their daughters’ best interest, but it doesn’t mean that Keith isn’t struggling, and he reportedly believes Nicole made a “calculated move” to ensure he’d lose while watching her thrive in this scenario.
“It hurts all the more to see the girls parading around with Nicole and clearly loving life more than they ever did when he was on the scene,” the source said.
It also doesn’t help that Nicole is flaunting her happiness, either.
With how busy she’s been keeping herself since the divorce — and the way she’s documented these fun moments of her life for the world to see — Keith seems to be just a little taken aback.
“She’s like the cat that ate the canary right now, rubbing her happy single parent life in his face, and to pretty much everyone in Keith’s world, that’s just cruel and totally out of line,” the insider said.
It’s interesting that this is his position (if the source is legit, of course), considering the fact that other reports made it sound like Nicole was completely blindsided by a divorce she never wanted. Is he having second thoughts?
