Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban have yet to confirm exactly why they’re going their separate ways after nearly 20 years of marriage, but according to those close to the couple, things may have gotten a bit messy between them even before they split. A source told Radar Online that their marriage truly began to fall apart when Nicole began talking about her “sexual awakening,” much to Keith’s chagrin.
Apparently, the problem goes all the way back to when Nicole was filming her movie Babygirl with Harrison Dickson — an experience that she spoke about openly in a 2024 interview with The Sun.
“There were times when we were shooting where I was like, ‘I don’t want to orgasm any more. Don’t come near me. I hate doing this,” Nicole said at the time. “I don’t care if I am never touched again in my life! I’m over it. It was so present all the time for me that it was almost like a burnout.”
An insider close to the former couple told Radar that kind of conversation carried over at home, and it sounds like Keith really didn’t welcome it.
“He was tired of hearing her rave about her sexual reawakening and animal attraction to her costars and has been living his own life,” the insider said.
This is what reportedly pushed Keith to move out on his own over the summer — months before the news of their divorce went public.
“They were using the time apart to quietly and amicably work out the details of the divorce,” the source explained.
Once Keith was on his own, there was no going back.
“Their lives were moving in different directions, and once he set up his own place, the writing was on the wall,” the insider continued. “People close to Keith felt like the split was inevitable.”
While Keith and Nicole’s breakup may have been shocking to fans who thought that the couple would be together forever, it sounds like it might have been a long time coming for them … even if they didn’t choose to let the rest of the world in on what was going on behind the scenes until months later.
