Some fans are genuinely concerned about Kim Kardashian’s parenting after seeing a recent post from her 12-year-old daughter, North West. Of course, these concerns are nothing new. On several occasions, people have criticized Kim for letting her daughter sport clothing and accessories that don’t exactly seem age-appropriate. Fairly recently, North showed off some piercings and tattoos that would’ve been especially concerning, except they were fake. North’s recent post makes some of her piercings look very, very real though.
In her recent posts, North showed off her hand piercings.
And fans thought the piercings on her fingers seemed “wild” for anyone, really — let alone a child. “On the HAND? That’s not even a place I’ve ever seen that done before,” one person wrote on Reddit. Another person argued that North was probably able to get the unconventional piercings due to her family’s wealth. “That’s because a responsible piercer would never do it,” they responded. “But money gets people to say ‘yes’ when it should be a ‘hell no’.”
To many critics, it’s hard to understand why Kim didn’t say “no” though. The images North shared on TikTok seemingly showed piercings on both of her hands. In one of the photos, North showed off a double piercing on her middle finger. Then, on her other hand, she seemingly got a single piercing.
She even showed the procedure.

The third photo North shared made it pretty clear that these piercings are not fake. It showed a needle inserted through her skin on her middle finger, creating space for the piercing. Given that North is only 12 years old, many critics were concerned about her ability to take care of the piercings. “The potential for serious injury with this piercing is so unnecessarily high,” one of them wrote. “Infection, rejection, nerve damage. A 12-year-old is not mature enough to care for this piercing responsibly. Oh my God, Kim.”
A second critic wrote, “This isn’t self expression, she’s too young. [Buy] some cool punk/goth looking rings and if you still want to get surface piercings when you’re 18 go ahead. That’s gonna snag on something and get ripped out.”

To them, the piercings make it seem like Kim just lets her kids do whatever they want without thinking about the potential consequences. Of course, several people slammed Kanye West’s parenting too, but he reportedly hasn’t even seen his kids in months. “Parents like Kimberly (and it goes without saying KANYE) scare me,” someone wrote. “You’re never, ever going to tell your kid no? Because self expression?”
A second person agreed, adding, “Kim and Kanye are failing as parents. No responsible parent would let their 12yo child do this.”
However, in Kim and Ye’s defense, some people didn’t really see anything wrong with the piercings. “May be a hot take, but this seems harmless to me,” one of them argued. Someone else suggested that the decision might be getting more hate than it normally would just because North is Kim’s daughter. “Do people really care or is it cuz it’s Kim Kardashian?” they wondered.
