Olivia Rodrigo celebrated a milestone birthday this week when she turned 21 on February 20. This was a big week for the singer as she celebrated her birthday and then opened the first night of her Guts world tour at show in Palm Springs on Friday night. In between her birthday party and the concert, the newly minted adult made a special to stop at a gas station to buy beer and cigarettes.
Rodrigo got cheers from the audience when she took a break during her concert to tell them about the purchase but was also quick to assure them that she wasn't actually planning to take up drinking and smoking just yet.

Olivia talks about getting older.
In a TikTok video from the concert, the former Disney Channel star talked about her birthday purchase, sharing that "I went to the gas station the other day and bought a pack of cigarettes and a six pack of beer… I promise I didn’t consume it, but I just bought it because I f-ing could!"
After the cheers from her fans died down, Rodrigo got a little more self-reflective about this chapter of her life, noting, "all this to say that I think growing up isn’t so scary after all and life just kind of gets better at the end."
Before her birthday, she'd also made a joke about underage drinking.
Olivia shared photos from her birthday party, complete with multiple cakes, on Instagram, along with the cheeky caption, "today is my last day of being able to underage drink (hypothetically) !!!!"
Her party included friends such as up-and-coming pop singers Tate McRae and Conan Gray.
Olivia will be on the road for the next several months.
With her birthday behind her and her tour underway, Olivia will have plenty of chances to pick up more gas station beer and cigarettes if she wants to do so. She's set to travel through the US, Canada, and selected cities in Europe this spring and summer before wrapping up her tour in California at the end of the summer.
