People can’t get over how, at age 48, Orlando Bloom is apparently petty enough to pose for a photo alongside someone who dressed up as his ex for Halloween. Actress Rachel Lynn Matthews didn’t just dress up as Katy Perry for Halloween; she dressed up as controversial Blue Origin trip Katy, and even kissed the ground in the way that Katy did when she returned from her short trip to space in April. And because Orlando was photographed with her, people are assuming he was in on the joke, or at least totally OK with it.
And sure, breakups can be hard. After nine years together, Katy and Orlando confirmed their split in July. That same month, Katy was spotted with former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, and they now appear to be dating. Even so, many social media users felt that Orlando’s decision to pose alongside Rachel was beyond childish.
Rachel shared the Halloween photo that showed her dressed as Katy with Orlando standing beside her to her Instagram Stories. According to Page Six, the actress also shared a photo that showed her mimicking Katy by kissing the floor. In response, many people on Reddit slammed Orlando’s “weird” and “unhinged” behavior and called him immature.
“I’m embarrassed for them all,” one critic wrote. Another person added that “everyone involved is entirely way too old for this nonsense.” To some, it was actually beyond childish. “Everyone saying this is childish, but I wouldn’t have been caught dead doing this at any point in my life,” a third critic said.

But some people actually found the whole thing pretty hilarious. “Sorry, I love this level of petty,” one of them wrote. Another person didn’t find it strange at all. After all, if you went to a Halloween party and someone was dressed like your ex (whom you co-parent with, by the way), would you really not take a photo? “Is everyone ok? She obviously dressed as Katy and then was in a photo with Orlando which she posted because it’s funny to run into Orlando Bloom when you are dressed as Katy Perry,” another person wrote in their defense.
Katy is not exactly the most popular celebrity herself. Recently, she went viral for carelessly destroying her birthday cake. Prior to that, many people mocked her Blue Origin trip. A few critics said Rachel was clearly “mocking” Katy with her costume, and they couldn’t believe Orlando would join in, especially because Katy is the mother of his daughter. One Redditor wrote, “I’m not a fan of Katy and she was ridiculous to go to space and kiss the ground like that but idk this feels kinda mean.”
