People are coming for Padma Lakshmi over what should've been a cute mother-daughter moment between her and her 12-year-old. The Top Chef host posted a clip that her tween had filmed on her Instagram Tuesday, prompting a wave of backlash with many people calling the video inappropriate.
Padma's daughter filmed her mom as she prepared a meal for the family.
The clip featured Padma hard at work in the kitchen as she added spices to something she had heating up on the stovetop. Upbeat music played in the background as Padma tried to tell her daughter what she was doing.
But the instructional moment was cut short when Padma's daughter got a little too close for comfort.
The chef could be heard asking Krishna to back off before the hilarious exchange.
Padma was explaining to her daughter how she was adding spices to the dish before the girl reached up and placed her hand over her mother's chest. Padma was just wearing a bralette-style top in the clip, which apparently didn't sit well with the tween.
Krishna then explained to her mother that she was "censoring" her.
Fans were not amused by the exchange and started lobbing accusations at the 52-year-old.
People thought Krishna was sending her mom a clear message with her actions.
"As a mom of four daughters, there's a time and a place and when it starts making our daughters uncomfortable because we are being objectified, time to take notice," one person wrote in the comments.
Another person criticized the mom, writing, "No respect for your daughter."
Some of Padma's followers may be mad, but she had the best response for her daughter.
Not one to let the moment pass without offering up some of her trademark sass, Padma blew off her daughter's concerns.
"Censoring my boobs?" she asked in the clip as she kept whipping up the meal. "You ate off those boobs for a good year and a half."
You tell her, mama!
Padma's never been one not to fire back at her critics.
She has little patience for those who want to tell her how to live, which is evidenced by a December 20 video she posted in response to criticism about her lack of bra.
It all happened when she followed the TikTok trend of posting yourself floating in a boat, writing, "On my way to put on a bra because user75929 told me to."
We're sure Krishna was just trying to keep her mom from more criticism with her censor duties. She's obviously learned a thing or two from her mama!
