What to Know
Those first few days after giving birth can be pretty rough — even with the excitement of welcoming a new baby and soaking up all those newborn cuddles, recovering from a major medical event isn’t easy, especially in combination with all those postpartum hormones.
Unfortunately, it sounds like first time mom Elsie Hewitt had a particularly difficult time after giving birth to her first child with Pete Davidson earlier this month, and ended up in emergency surgery one day after their daughter arrived.
Elsie revealed the scary situation in her Instagram Stories.
Though her posts have since expired, according to The Sun, Elsie shared a photo of herself in the car with a very swollen face and an ice pack wrapped around her head as she sat next to her daughter, Scottie, who was buckled into her car seat.
“Who else had to get a wisdom tooth removed directly from the hospital the day after they gave birth,” she wrote over the photo.
Wisdom teeth removal can be a pretty brutal experience in general, but on top of recovering from childbirth? That must have been a really rough week for her.
Baby Scottie arrived on December 12.
Elsie and Pete announced their daughter’s arrival earlier this month in a joint Instagram post, where they wrote, “our perfect angel girl arrived 12/12/2025.”
Her name is Scottie Rose Hewitt Davidson, after Pete’s late father, Scott, who died in the September 11 attacks on the World Trade Center.
In her own message, the new mom wrote, “my best work yet, i am absolutely overflowing with love and gratitude and disbelief.” For his part, Pete simply added, “wu tang forever.”
Elsie seems to be recovering well.
On Sunday, Elsie shared new photos with baby Scottie being cuddled at home with both of her parents, so it seems like they’re all recovering well at home (a much more comfortable place to be than the hospital, to be honest).
Here’s hoping that the rest of Elsie’s postpartum experience goes a lot more smoothly for her. This time can be so difficult (and exhausting), but it goes by way too fast. There truly is nothing comparable to holding a brand new baby in your arms, and it’s clear that Scottie is already so loved by her parents.
