Pippa Middleton Dodges a Reporter’s Question at the F1 Grand Prix

Even if Pippa Middleton hadn’t had some viral moments of her own, she’d still be a pretty important public figure just by virtue of being the Princess of Wales‘ sister. But somehow, when faced with a reporter at a big event this week, she somehow managed to escape questioning, resulting in a seriously awkward moment that was caught on camera.

Pippa was spotted at the F1 Grand Prix over the weekend.

According to People, rather than attending sister Kate Middleton’s annual Christmas carol service on Friday, Pippa and husband James Matthews were in Abu Dhabi to take in the F1 Grand Prix. It makes sense that the couple would be there, since James is board member of the Williams F1 team, though it didn’t appear that their three children had joined them for the event.

She shared an awkward moment with a reporter.

Footage of Pippa at the race has made it to TikTok after she appeared on Sky Sports reporter Ted Kravitz’s “Qualifying Notebook” segment. Pippa was standing outdoors with a group including her husband, and as Kravitz walked by, he mentioned seeing James and the others they were with, but didn’t mention Pippa at all.

“[That’s] James Matthews from the Williams team. I don’t know whether he has a view on Max, Lando or Oscar,” Ted can be heard saying in the video. “[He’s with] Rebecca Donaldson, Carlos Sainz’s other half.”

Ted then asked the group a question, and Pippa began to walk away, seemingly escaping the questioning altogether since it looked like the reporter didn’t recognize her — surprising, considering that he did know who her husband was and that she’s the sister of the future queen of England.

People have mixed opinions about how the situation played out.

In the comments of the TikTok video, viewers seemed to have mixed emotions about whether or not Pippa was actually snubbed.

“Ted Kravitz not acknowledging Pippa is frying me. Her sister is the next queen of England,” the OP wrote.

Commenters had different takes — including more than one person who didn’t think it was Ted’s job as a sports reporter to be able to recognize members of the extended royal family. “There are things to care about, and then there’s this,” one wrote.

Another imagined that Pippa was probably pretty happy to lay low this time around, writing, “Pippa is so private I’m sure she was very happy to be ‘anonymous’ for a moment.”

Hopefully, that is how she felt. We wouldn’t want her feelings to be hurt over this!
