Prince Harry Accused of Wearing Military Medals for Attention: ‘How Pathetic’

When Prince Harry walked away from his position as a working senior royal, there was a lot of debate about whether he should be able to keep his military titles, and now, that debate is coming back, four years later. During his latest video appearance, Harry was wearing military medals, and the people of the internet have a lot of opinions about it. Some seem to believe very strongly that he shouldn't be permitted to wear them at all, with one person even calling him "pathetic."

Harry appeared on camera to present an award virtually.

As The New York Post reported, last Thursday, he presented the Military Times' Soldier of the Year Award to Sergeant First Class Elizabeth Marks, who is a medalist in both the Paralympics and the Invictus Games.

He appeared on a video filmed at the home he shares with wife Meghan Markle in Montecito, California.

He dressed up for the occasion.

In the video, he wears a suit adorned with four medals. According to the Post, they include the "Afghanistan campaign medal, a Golden Jubilee medal, a Diamond Jubilee medal and a Platinum Jubilee medal."

Queen Elizabeth presented him with the jubilee medals, and he received the first for his military service.

Now, Harry is being called out for wearing the medals.

The trolls have come out in full force on X (formerly Twitter), and many people are chiding him for wearing the medals now that he's no longer a working royal.

"Those medals need to be revoked for traitors," one person wrote.

Another added, "Truly pathetic. He’s desperate to be recognized as a Royal when he quit the Firm. He’s going to be like the ageing Duke of Windsor dreaming of his former Royal life in the UK."

Others defended him.

Some defended his right to wear them, while others pointed out that only one of them was actually a military medal in the first place.

Harry was stripped of several of his military titles when he stepped down from royal life. Even though that meant that he could no longer wear his military uniform during appearances, he was still permitted to wear his medals (and that's still the case).

In the end, it doesn't look like Harry broke any rules.

He was simply wearing the medals he is entitled to wear — and because he was presenting an award related to military service, it makes total sense that this would be an occasion for Harry to wear them.

Still, it doesn't look like this topic of conversation is going away any time soon!
