Prince Harry’s Return to the UK Resurrected One of the Cruelest Rumors About Princess Diana

The prince has returned. Well, Prince Harry, who willingly stepped away from the British Royal Family and his duties as such, has returned to the UK, anyway. And he didn’t come home to rejoin his brother, Prince William, and father, King Charles III.

Instead, he and Meghan Markle appear to have decided this so their children could attend school in the UK. And they are not living on a property linked to the royal family.

But the return of Harry also means the return of some pretty dark rumors about his mom, the late Princess Diana. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), users fed into the rumor again, and it involves Harry, Diana, and Harry’s decidedly different look from that of his father and older brother.

There has been a specific rumor about Princess Diana for years.

In the X post, the user shared a photo of Harry and William and wrote, “Diana took back her genes when Charles started to cheat and gave him this orange simp  from hell to

Raise as his son.” The idea seems to be that Diana cheated on Charles and that’s how she conceived Harry. 

In the comments under the X post, a user shared a visual aid of Harry with different hair and more facial hair to resemble another man who is definitely not Charles. The person wgo made the original post also showed up in the comments to add, “Diana was human. She married a much older man at 19 and had a child soon after. She needed love and she felt betrayed by Charles.”

These are, of course, baseless claims. The main factor that people cite is that Harry looks nothing like William or Charles. He barely favors Diana, to be fair. But that doesn’t mean he isn’t related to the royal bloodline just like William. It just means that the public has had fodder to go with for literal decades.

People think someone else is Prince Harry’s real father.

People often compare Harry to a man by the name of James Hewitt, who was Diana’s riding instructor. In 1995, Diana admitted that she was unfaithful to Charles and that her relationship with James went beyond professionalism. She admitted, per the BBC, “I was in love with him. But I was very let down.”

Because of the admitted affair, people have compared Harry’s looks to James over the years. They do share similarly colored hair and even similar noses. A conspiracy theorist might say that James is Harry’s real father, and that Harry’s return to the UK only adds fuel to that theory. But he addressed the rumor in 2002, according to People.

“I can understand the interest, but Harry was already walking by the time my relationship with Diana began,” he said at the time. “Admittedly the red hair is similar to mine and people say we look alike. Looking at the pictures I would say he is a much more handsome chap than I ever was.”

Some people claim that Prince Harry looks the most like Prince Philip.

Although Harry does bear a resemblance to James, any familial relationship between the two has never been proven. In fact, other people tend to lean into the belief that not only is Harry part of the royal family, but he actually looks more like that side of the family than anyone else. Compared to younger photos of the late Prince Philip, Harry looks so much like him that the illegitimate child rumor should probably be put to bed at this point.

In a Reddit post about how much Harry looks like Philip, someone joked, “I honestly never believed anyone but Chuckles was his dad, personally,” in reference to Charles being the ‘Chuckles’ in question. They added, “But, yeah, the comparison to young Philip took care of any possible lingering doubt some deep part of my unconscious mind might have had.”
