Prince Harry probably has pretty thick skin after growing up in the spotlight as a member of the royal family, but it doesn’t seem to have prepared him for the emotions that would come up when his wife is the target of the public’s disdain instead. According to a royal expert, the Duke of Sussex probably isn’t taking it very well now that Meghan Markle is getting so much backlash for her Netflix series, With Love, Meghan.
Harry tends to get ‘very, very upset’ when Meghan is on the chopping block.
Royal expert Ingrid Seward told The Sun that Harry has a history of becoming upset when Meghan comes under fire, even going back to their 2017 engagement. It makes sense that he would become defensive if anyone said something unkind about his wife, but Harry seems to take the criticism especially personally.
âBut Harry is super sensitive, so I should think he’s loathing this backlash against Meghan and just thinking that it’s just the âunkind Brits,'” Ingrid said. âI think that he gets very upset by all these things.â
Meghan’s show hasn’t exactly gotten rave reviews.
If Harry’s already feeling sensitive, he should probably avoid the reviews of With Love, Meghan, because critics haven’t exactly been kind. That’s particularly true when it comes to former Vanity Fair editor Tina Brown’s take on the series, which she published in her Substack newsletter.
âWith her unerring instinct for getting it wrong, Meghan has come out with a show about fake perfection just when the zeitgeist has turned raucously against it,â she wrote.
Despite the backlash, Meghan still seems to have found her audience.
Earlier this week, the official ratings for With Love, Meghan were released, and the show made Netflix’s top 10 shows globally, according to People, and it’s already been renewed for a second season due to premiere this fall.
Meghan also announced the launch of her podcast, Confessions of a Female Founder, which will debut on April 8.
Who could blame Harry if he is feeling a bit sensitive about all of this? Nobody wants to see that people are saying unkind things about their partner â especially not after watching them work hard on a project the way Meghan has on her new businesses.
