After a fairly long social media hiatus, Meghan Markle returned to Instagram in January 2025 to promote her projects, like her lifestyle brand, As Ever, and her Netflix show, With Love, Meghan. Over time, Meghan has shared more snippets from her personal life, but not without controversy. Even when sharing vulnerable moments with her followers, Meghan often gets accused of being fake or performative. Given the amount of hate Meghan gets in response to nearly everything she does, it’s no surprise that she has a complicated relationship with social media. But apparently, Prince Harry is the one who’s really bothered by Meghan’s social media presence.
Meghan has shared some photos and videos of her family.
Meghan recently shared some footage from her family’s trip to a pumpkin patch. The video showed 6-year-old Prince Archie, 4-year-old Princess Lilibet, and Prince Harry picking out pumpkins, going through a corn maze, and carving jack-o’-lanterns. In another recent post, she gave her followers an inside look at a recent trip to New York. Via her Instagram Stories, she also celebrated the Los Angeles Dodgers’ World Series win. But to her critics, the intimate moment seemed like a “staged” attempt to seem “relatable.”
In response, one critic wrote, “She thinks her fake life will sell her fake jam.”
Apparently Harry is bothered by this kind of attention.

According to a recent report from Page Six, Harry doesn’t like that Meghan has been sharing content featuring him and their kids. “He doesn’t love the social media displays,” a source told the publication, adding that Meghan’s social media content makes him feel like Meghan’s “parading him around.” People have long criticized Meghan for not completely distancing herself from the royal family despite stepping down from royal duties and moving to the United States.
For example, on her Netflix show, Meghan had a conversation with Mindy Kaling that went viral. “It’s so funny too that you keep saying Meghan Markle,” Meghan told the actress. “You know I’m Sussex now.”
And recently, critics called her out for a royal-inspired candle.
Some critics also believe that Meghan is using her ties to the royal family to sell more products. Recently, Meghan’s brand released a candle named after her royal wedding date. According to the product description, this candle “evokes the freshness of a day in the English countryside, a long walk in the garden, and a spirit of happiness that is hard to resist.” Some people on social media had an issue with that, and Prince Harry allegedly does too. Per the Page Six source, Harry is reportedly “not thrilled” about Meghan’s “Signature Candle No. 519.”
