Prince Harry Reportedly Makes Unexpected Peace Offering to King Charles Amid Yearslong Feud

Just when it seemed like any hope of Prince Harry and King Charles ending their feud was long gone, they might be taking a step toward reconciliation after all. According to what a royal insider told the Daily Mail, Harry has reportedly extended an unexpected olive branch to his dad (and the royal family in general), even though his peace offering is something he would never have been obligated to do at all now that he’s no longer a working royal.

In recent years, Harry and wife Meghan Markle have been accused of trying to steal the spotlight from the royals, and after Harry was recently accused of distracting from Queen Camilla‘s birthday by visiting the land mines in Angola at the same time, just like his mom Princess Diana did, it sounds like he’s taking steps to ensure nothing like that happens again.

After Harry and Charles’ aides quietly met up earlier this month, Harry has agreed to “draw up a ‘grid’ of his activities and share them with Buckingham Palace.”

“Before that meeting between their aides in London, conflicts of interest or clashes of publicity were relished and even perhaps encouraged by the Sussexes,” the source said. “Now, Harry has shifted into a new way of thinking. The tone is now all about ‘deconflicting’ with his family.”

It’s not just Charles and Camilla who would be kept in the loop, either — the source claimed that Prince William and Kate Middleton would have access to Harry’s schedule, too, which could end up pushing the brothers toward a reconciliation of their own in time.

Still, that doesn’t mean that Harry’s planning to be back in the royal fold in any formal capacity.

“Harry still doesn’t like being controlled by the royal machinery, and that won’t change,” the source said, per the Daily Mail. “However, if the royal family have full sight of his movements they can at least plan accordingly.”

Maybe if this cuts down on a bit of the drama — and shows the royals that Harry is willing to work with them, even just a little — Charles and William will feel a bit safer finding a way to keep Harry and his family in their lives in some way.

After more than five years of the back and forth, it would be nice to finally see this feud come to an end.
