Prince Harry hasn't been on good terms with the royals for years at this point, and that means he's not just distanced from dad King Charles and brother Prince William. According to one royal expert, the Duke of Sussex is experiencing so much regret after losing his close brother/sister relationship with Kate Middleton that he considers it the "second great loss" of his life — right after losing his mother, Princess Diana, at a young age.

Prince Harry and the Princess of Wales were once very close.
After all, Harry was still a teenager when Will and Kate began dating in 2001, so she's been part of their family for a long time — and before he married Meghan Markle, he and Kate were always seen palling around when they'd attend royal engagements together.
But now, everything is different — and not just because he lives on another continent.
Harry is reportedly struggling with not having Kate in his life.
According to royal expert Tom Quinn, this hasn't been easy for Harry at all.
"He really misses that warm, uncomplicated relationship, and he is torn between loyalty to his wife and regret about the loss of the woman he was so close to," he said. "Losing Kate was Harry's second great loss after losing his mother."
Meghan doesn't feel the same, though.
This isn't too surprising to hear, since Meghan and Kate didn't exactly spend enough time around each other to become close … and they were always rumored to be at odds themselves.
"Meghan doesn't feel guilty about Kate, because she feels that Kate should’ve been the one person in the Royal Family to back her against every difficulty," the royal expert said. "Apart from anything else, Meghan knew Kate was an outsider, so she just couldn't understand why Kate always towed the royal line rather than supporting her, Meghan, the other outsider."

This isn't the only report claiming that Harry is missing Kate.
Duncan Larcombe, a royal biographer, told New magazine (via Express) that finding out about Kate's cancer diagnosis has "put things in perspective" for Harry.
"Kate was like the sister Harry never had and he is probably full of regret at how his relationship with her and William has collapsed so spectacularly," he said.
Making up with Kate may not be in the cards, though.
Express reported that Kate is still pretty taken aback by the way she was portrayed in Harry's memoir, Spare, and that means she may not be ready to forgive her brother-in-law — no matter how much he may regret the past.
Hopefully we'll get the chance to see these two bury the hatchet in the future. Situations like these involving family are never easy, no matter who you are.
