Prince William’s Greeting To Queen Camilla Sparks Conversation About Royal Dynamics

Considering King Charles‘ affair with Queen Camilla while he was still married to Princess Diana, it would be understandable if their stepmother wasn’t his sons’ favorite person in the world. But after seeing Camilla’s interaction with Prince William this week during a state visit, it seems like it might go deeper than that at this point — in fact, it might even lend more credibility to the rumors that Charles may be giving William the throne even sooner than some may think.

This week, the royals have been hosting the president of Nigeria.

As People reported, the king of Nigeria and his first lady were at the palace in honor of the royal family’s very first state visit of 2026, and so far, they’ve been following a packed schedule, including a fancy state dinner hosted at Windsor Castle on Wednesday night.

But the moment that has people talking took place as soon as the royals welcomed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his wife, Oluremi Tinubu.

William’s greeting to Camilla was a lot different than the one Kate Middleton gave her.

When Will and Kate arrived at the event, they both greeted Camilla very differently, according to StyleCaster. Kate, who is known to be a bit more formal than her husband, followed the same protocol she usually does by kissing her stepmother-in-law on each cheek and curtsying. But when it was William’s turn to say hello, he left it at a kiss on both cheeks.

Of course, there’s no rule that the prince and princess have to curtsy or bow to the king and queen, but it is normally what’s done — unless, of course, you’re Prince William, who seems to be working with his own agenda here.

Tension between Camilla and William is rumored to be high right now.

Back in September, there were rumors that Camilla was growing tired of Will and Kate soaking up all the positive attention in the family — including from the public.

“Camilla has been extremely kind and supportive towards Kate throughout her recent struggles, but she’s territorial by nature as well as prickly,” a source told the National Examiner. “It annoys her to no end there’s this narrative that the Waleses can do no wrong and that Kate can swan around whenever she feels like it, waving her magic wand and taking a self appointed bow as the most popular member of the monarchy.”

The insider added, “It’s not [Kate] or Prince William’s place or right to be throwing their weight around or barking orders.”

It definitely sounds like there’s family drama brewing behind the scenes, and Will’s greeting to Camilla might not even be the tip of the iceberg.
