Prince William and Prince Harry have had a strained relationship over the past several years. Of course, the fact that the Duke of Sussex stepped down from royal duties and left the United Kingdom plays a role in that. However, there’s another reason why the Prince of Wales isn’t ready to try to repair his relationship with his estranged brother.
Prince William reportedly can’t move past what Harry said about his wife.
One source alleges that protecting his wife is Prince William’s priority. For that reason, he “won’t forget” the way Prince Harry spoke about Kate Middleton. The source told Fox News that “his pain doesn’t come from personal insults or headlines. It comes from his instinct to protect the woman he loves.”
“But what cuts the deepest is Harry’s treatment of Catherine,” the source claimed. “She’s always loved him, always treated him like a little brother. That’s the betrayal William won’t forget.”
In his memoir, Harry described some of the tension between Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle.
Prince Harry’s portrayals of the Princess of Wales in his tell-all memoir, Spare, were not entirely negative. Harry described Kate as “carefree, sweet, kind” and “the sister I’d never had and always wanted.” However, he also detailed some of the uncomfortable interactions between Kate and the Duchess of Sussex, such as the bridesmaid dress drama that sparked rumors about Meghan making Kate cry. When Meghan and Harry have explained what happened, they’ve said it was actually the other way around: Kate made Meghan cry.
He also detailed some awkward interactions between the two women, including one involving lip gloss. “Meg asked to borrow Kate’s lip gloss. An American thing. Meg forgot hers, worried she needed some, and turned to Kate for help,” he described in his memoir, per Hello! “Kate, taken aback, went into her handbag and reluctantly pulled out a small tube. Meg squeezed some onto her finger and applied it to her lips. Kate grimaced. Small clash of styles, maybe? Something we should’ve been able to laugh about soon after. But it left a little mark.”
Some experts suspect that too much damage has been done.
To some experts, the strained relationship between William and Harry seems beyond repair. A source recently told Us Weekly that “there is no turning back for William” and “the door is firmly shut.” During a recent Army Air Corps visit, William seemed to allude to his strained relationship with his brother. Per the Daily Mail, William said family can be a “mixed bag.”
“Families OK? See you enough? Some of them might not want to see you that much. It’s a mixed bag sometimes,” he reportedly said.
