Prince William & Kate Middleton’s Country Home Anmer Hall Is Haunted by the Ghost of a Priest

When Prince William and Kate Middleton aren’t at Adelaide Cottage ā€”Ā which is now their full-time home since they moved out of London ā€”Ā they like to spend time at their country home, Anmer Hall. It’s a beautiful estate in Northfolk with plenty of space outdoors for the kids to run around in privacy. There’s just one problem: Apparently, it’s haunted.

The home holds a lot of history.

According to what Richard Felix, a paranormal historian, told A Right Royal Podcast this week, there’s a pretty creepy story behind the hauntings, and it all started long before the royals owned the property.

ā€œWhen the Prince andĀ Princess of WalesĀ moved into Anmer Hallā€”itā€™s more or less on theĀ Sandringham Estateā€”there was a ghost there of a Catholic priest that lived there and was hanged, drawn and quartered for high treason,” he said.

The ghost is supposedly Saint Henry Walpole.

Saint Henry was executed in 1595 and is thought to have returned back to Anmer Hall because his family lived there, so it’s the place he thinks of as home.

“Although he was executed in York, [Kate and William] actually heard his voice. And they have seen the ghost of what they say is a priest, wandering around Anmer Hall,ā€ Richard said on the podcast.

Will and Kate aren't too fussed over it.

ā€œBefore the Waleses moved in, they were warned about the ghost, and the comment was ā€” I presume it was from Prince William ā€” he said, ā€˜No old hall would be complete without a ghost, would it?ā€™” Richard said.

Richard added that as a whole, the royals have never been very bothered by living in a haunted house. ā€œMost people arenā€™t afraid of ghosts when they are in their houses ā€” they just accept them.ā€

The ghost is thought to have been seen and heard on the property.

In the past,Ā Express has reported that those spending time at Anmer Hall have claimed they’ve seen Saint Henry wandering around the gardens and have even heard his voice when the wind blows. Creepy, but cool!

In fact, Richard told the podcast that “all” of the royals have acknowledged that there are ghosts in their homes, including the late Queen Elizabeth.

ā€œThe late Queen saw her namesake Queen Elizabeth in the library at Windsor Castle,ā€ he said. ā€œKing [Charles] has seen the same ghost, and his grandfatherĀ George VIĀ saw Queen Elizabeth eight times in the library before the start of the second World War.ā€
