Prince William & Kate Middleton’s Kids Described As a ‘Sad Looking Bunch’ at Christmas Carol Service

On Friday, Kate Middleton hosted her annual Together at Christmas holiday carol service at Westminster Abbey, and her family was there to cheer her on, including husband Prince William and children George, Charlotte, and Louis.

But after seeing photos from the event, some critics of the royal family aren’t convinced that they’re as happy as they’d like the world to believe they are.

The royal kids are usually a staple at this event every year.

Will and Kate only tend to bring George, Charlotte, and Louis to the biggest (and most kid-friendly) royal events of the year — think Trooping the Colour. But it’s almost a guarantee that we’ll see all three of them at Christmas time, especially when Kate is hosting her Christmas carol service around this time every year, especially now that Louis is 7 and is able to keep it together for the more boring parts of these outings… for the most part, anyway.

So it was no surprise to see them joining their parents at Westminster Abbey on Friday, but some critics of the royals didn’t expect to see the kids looking quite as demure as they did during certain parts of the evening.

Many didn’t believe George, Charlotte, and Louis looked very happy to be there.

On one subreddit, someone noted that the kids looked “miserable” at the outing, and they definitely weren’t alone in that line of thinking, according to what other people shared on a different post.

“These kids have the demeanor of kids who live in a chaotic home with parents whose emotions are erratic and unpredictable,” one commenter said, while another added, “What a sad looking bunch.”

“Those poor kids. Nothing but little PR shields,” one user wrote. “Why do they dress them up like that? What happened to giving them privacy and a normal childhood? They never look happy. And why are they out on the cold without coats?”

Others questioned the clothing the kids were wearing to the event.

Speaking of the lack of coats for Will and Kate’s kids? Plenty of others had even more to say about Charlotte’s attire.

“Charlotte needs to be allowed to wear a dress from this century,” one person said.

In other moments from the service, the kids did look happy, so it’s possible that cameras caught them in an “off” moment — after all, these are three real children we’re talking about, royal or not.

Still, coats may not have hurt…
