As one of the most beloved members of the British monarchy, there is no doubt that Kate Middleton is used to receiving plenty of compliments just about everywhere she goes. Fortunately, husband Prince William doesn’t seem to mind his wife getting all the attention, and that’s never been more true than during a fan interaction that happened during one of the royals’ outings this week that’s cracking people up.
This week, they attended a ship naming ceremony.
As People reported, the Prince and Princess of Wales were in Scotland on Thursday, attending the ship naming of the HMS Glasglow because Kate is the ship’s sponsor. At the event, Kate even gave a speech and christened the ship with a bottle of whiskey.
“I have the pleasure to name this ship HMS Glasglow,” Kate said. “May God bless her and all who sail on her.”
But as it turned out, something else that happened at the event may have turned out to be a bit more memorable!
A fan shared the funny moment on Instagram.
In a video that a fan posted on Instagram, Will and Kate can be seen walking past a crowd of fans who gathered at the event.
“You’re beautiful!” an onlooker can be heard calling to them. “You too, William!”
As the crowd chuckled, William replied, “You didn’t have to say that. Don’t worry.”
People are loving this very real moment between Will and Kate.
It’s not every day that we get to see such a relaxed interaction between the royals and their fans, so it’s no surprise the comments are flooded with people who are loving every second of it.
“So funny. I love their humor,” read one comment.
“Prince William becoming more and more like a king each day,” another commenter added.
It seems like they had a lot of fun that day.

Kate and William also competed against each other while building devices out of pipes in this video shared by Sky News royal reporter Rhiannon Mills on X, and it appears William won this one. After they completed their builds, Kate’s started to fall apart, eliciting plenty of laughter from everyone in the room.
All in all, a pretty good day for the royals!
