20 of Princess Beatrice’s Boldest Fashion Looks

When it comes to the best royal style, people like Kate Middleton, Meghan Markle, and Princess Diana always get their due. But we can't forget about Princess Beatrice. Her sense of style is much bolder than some of the other royal women. She takes bigger risks — and has bigger misses — but she also pushes the envelope in ways people like the Duchess of Cambridge can't because Kate has to adhere to strict style protocol.

Beatrice may not be in the public eye as much because she's not a senior royal, but when she does step out for an event or a night on the town, she almost always looks amazing. She's not afraid to throw on a striking accessory, experiment with color, or try out a trendy style. The result is that her looks are fairly memorable. Here are 20 of her best and boldest.

The Infamous Fascinator

Beatrice will likely never be able to live down this extravagant fascinator she wore to Kate Middleton and Prince William's wedding. It was meant to be a bow shape, but it also kind of looks like an octopus is sitting on her head. But although this accessory was a miss, it's a great example of the fashion risks Bea is willing to take.

Hot Pink

Not everybody can pull off neon pink. In fact, Beatrice's mom, Sarah Ferguson, and sister, Princess Eugenie, decided to go with much more muted dress colors at this event. Grays and blues are always safe choices, but Beatrice isn't a safe dresser. She's willing to step outside the fashion box and try new things. She totally rocked this bright dress.

Belted Dress

This green brocade frock would be gorgeous enough on its own, but we love that Beatrice added a wide belt to it. Now instead of just being a regular dress, it's a statement outfit. She wore this while on a trip to Berlin in 2013 – the height of the popularity for items like chunky belts. Move over, Kate, there's another trendy royal in town.

Wedding Guest

When attending a wedding in 2011, Beatrice scaled things way down — but she still looked gorgeous. This event took place a few months after Kate and William's nuptials, so perhaps Bea was trying to avoid another hat situation. Instead, she just wore a pretty, flowy pink gown with no fascinator. She looks absolutely stunning.

Luxe Velvet

Velvet will always be considered a luxurious fabric, and Beatrice put it to great use in this deep red overcoat. The addition of the coat totally spices up her whole outfit. Before, she was just wearing a basic black dress. After, she's wearing a trendy velvet version of a graduation gown — and totally making it work.

Tuxedo Dress

We know that Meghan Markle loves a tuxedo dress, but Beatrice is a fan of making menswear applicable to her own life as well. This 2015 outfit was extra fitting because she wore it to a high fashion event — the "Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty" exhibition in London. Between her bold red lip and sky-high skirt slit, Beatrice stunned on the red carpet.

Chic White

It can be tough to pull off a white dress outside of being the bride at a wedding, but Beatrice rocked this gown at a summer party for London's Serpentine Gallery. Her outfit is also anything but basic with the sheer shoulder panel and flower appliqués adorning the fabric. The purple heels were also a nice pop of color against the white.

Did you know that Beatrice was cast as an extra in Young Victoria? Her mother produced the film about Queen Victoria, and Beatrice got to wear this fancy period costume for the coronation scene. It's a lot of look, but also it works? If Beatrice had been alive in Victoria's day, she would have rocked it.

Bold Purple

Beatrice cemented herself in the fashionista hall of fame when she was invited to the 2018 Met Gala in New York City. The event is run by Vogue's Anna Wintour, and not just anybody gets an invite. For the occasion, Beatrice wore a stunning purple dress and a collection of headbands. No octopus hat here!

Matching Kate

Beatrice also now has the distinct honor of being first to wear an outfit before Kate Middleton. This shimmering green dress is by the brand The Vampire's Wife, and Beatrice stepped out in the number in late 2019. Several months later, in March 2020, Kate wore the same dress on her Ireland tour. Maybe she spotted it on Bea and wanted it for herself.

Bow Belt

Beatrice gave an exaggerated bow another try with this outfit. Instead of wearing a dramatic bow-themed fascinator like she did at the royal wedding, she wore a dress with a sparkly oversized bow belt design. This looks much more stylish while still pushing the fashion envelope as Beatrice likes to do. Style at its best.

Costume Party

We've long wondered whether the royals celebrate Halloween, but at the least, Beatrice does. She attended UNICEF's costume ball for Halloween in 2016. Sure, it was for charity, so maybe she wouldn't have gone otherwise — but it was still fun to see her get all dressed up. She had a mask and a wig and everything!

Baby Blue

American celebrities have the Met Gala to show off their best fashion, and the Brits have Royal Ascot. The summertime horseracing event brings all the royals out in their stylish best. Beatrice is always one to watch at Royal Ascot. She wore this pretty blue dress and matching hat to the 2019 event. It looks a lot like the dress Kate wore that same year. Baby blue was so in.

Speaking of Royal Ascot, we'd be remiss if we didn't include this look on this list. This is another of Bea's outfits from the racing event, and it's the perfect example of creative millinery that works. The curly hat is understated but still bold, and it looks great with her orange skirt. Orange is a tough color to pull off — even Kate doesn't try — but Beatrice made it work.

Geometric Dress

The lines on this dress are so crisp, and all Bea had to do was throw it on to look great. No added jackets or belt required — just a look that could totally stand on its own. Props to Bea, of course, for being the one to pick it out. She knew it would be a crowd-pleaser when she was photographed in it by the paparazzi.

Floral Gown

There is admittedly kind of a lot going on here, but it works. Beatrice wore this floaty floral gown to Queen Elizabeth's birthday party several years ago. She paired it with purple heels to accent the purple flowers on the dress, and we can see a hint of a bold gold belt as well. We don't love the gray shawl, but she was probably just cold, so we can forgive her for that one.

Fashion Model

Did you know that Beatrice was once in a fashion show with her mom? The two royal ladies rocked chic black gowns at a Fashion for Relief charity event. It takes a lot of courage to head down a catwalk in front of everyone — just ask former one-time model Kate Middleton. Her own charity fashion show walk landed her the attention of Prince William.

Showing Skin

One of the advantages that Beatrice has is that she's not a senior royal. The fashion protocol is much stricter for people like Kate, who could never wear such a see-through dress like this, even if it is an illusion. But Beatrice was unafraid of showing a little skin when heading to a party a couple of years ago.

Hand-Me-Down Wedding Dress

We adore Beatrice's bedazzled wedding dress from her surprise 2020 ceremony. It's actually one of the Queen's old dresses to which Bea made a couple of modifications. She paired it with her grandmother's tiara — the same one then-Princess Elizabeth wore on her own wedding day in 1947. Beatrice had the "something old" and "something borrowed" totally covered here.

Dramatic Sleeves

Beatrice is currently expecting her first child, and we got to see her maternity style in action when she attended the Wimbledon tennis tournament in July 2021. Her bump was just visible under her polka dot dress as she applauded the players. We also love the dramatic puffy sleeves on this outfit — because Bea can't resist going bold at every chance she gets.
