Princess Beatrice and her husband, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, have welcomed their second child together, Buckingham Palace announced on Wednesday. Their second baby, daughter Athena Elizabeth Rose Mapelli Mozzi, was born weighing 4 lbs. 5 oz. on January 22, 2025, and the proud parents have already shared the first photo of their new baby girl.
Princess Beatrice, 36, is Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson’s eldest daughter.

Buckingham Palace released a statement celebrating the arrival of Princess Beatrice’s second daughter.
“Her Royal Highness Princess Beatrice and Mr Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi are delighted to announce the safe arrival of their daughter, Athena Elizabeth Rose Mapelli Mozzi, born on Wednesday, 22nd January, at 12:57pm,” reads a statement shared on X.
“The King and Queen, and other members of The Royal Family have all been informed and are delighted with the news,” the statement noted, adding that both Beatrice and her daughter “are healthy and doing well, and the family are enjoying spending time together with Athena’s older siblings, Wolfie and Sienna.”
When Beatrice married her husband in 2020, she also became a stepmother.
Edoardo has one son from a previous relationship. In 2016, he and his then-fiancée, Dara Huang, welcomed Christopher “Wolfie” Woolf. After tying the knot in 2020, Princess Beatrice and Edoardo welcomed their first daughter, Sienna Elizabeth, in 2021.

Edo shared a photo of baby Athena on Instagram.
After Buckingham Palace announced Athena’s birth, Edo also opened up about the exciting news. “We welcomed Baby Athena into our lives last week,” he wrote on Instagram. “She is tiny and absolutely perfect.”
In the same post, he added that “we are all (including Wolfie and Sienna) already completely besotted with her.”
‘Our hearts are overflowing with love for you, baby Athena,’ Edo added.
The photo Edo shared showed Athena wearing a white outfit and wrapped up in a light pink blanket. Her face was obscured by her hand.
“A massive thank you from my wife and I goes out to all the wonderful staff at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital for their exceptional care and support during this incredibly special time,” Edo concluded.
Beatrice’s mother, Sarah Ferguson, also shared the news.
On Instagram, Sarah celebrated the birth of her granddaughter. “Overflowing with love and joy to be able to welcome Athena Elizabeth Rose into the world,” she wrote. “She is already so adored and I’m incredibly blessed to be a Granny once again. So proud of Edo, Beatrice and the rest of my little 5-a-side team!”
