Gone are the days when members of the royal family are expected to be dressed prime and proper in every single photo. Even though it may not seem like it sometimes, modern times have allowed for things to become a little more casual and relatable to everyday life. Such was the case for the official Instagram page for Prince William and Kate Middleton when they shared a photo celebrating the 11th birthday of their daughter, Princess Charlotte. She can be seen in a cute striped sweater, jeans, and even some blue polish on her fingernails that folks online have noticed and been chatting about ever since.
The Prince and Princess of Wales shared a post for Princess Charlotte’s 11th birthday and something stood out to people.
One of the great things about getting a little bit older is finding the confidence to experiment when it comes to your clothing and accessories. A lot of us find our true sense of self in our tween and teens years and it can be a beautiful thing.
When the Prince and Princess of Wales posted a photo on Instagram of 11-year-old Charlotte for her birthday, the world definitely took notice. One person shared in the comments, “Taking after her mother with her favourite emotional support stripped jumped happy Birthday Charlotte!! I hope you had the best day!!” Another person wrote, “Gosh she’s growing up so fast. Beautiful looking young girl.”
One thing that those who pay extra attention noticed was her nails. Princess Charlotte is sporting super cute blue nail polish. One individual in the Instagram comments wrote, “A pre-teen girl with blue nail polish.” Yup, that’s Charlotte. Another person wrote, “Very cool manicure.” We’d have to agree!
Some folks on Reddit are loving seeing this casual side of Princess Charlotte.
Like we said, it’s really nice to see some members of the royal family, even the younger ones, appearing less buttoned up and formal in photos.
Between showcasing her blue nails and wearing her hair down with a pair of jeans on, it feels like you’re getting a good look inside their interior everyday life. One person in this Reddit thread shared their thoughts on her birthday photo. “Love her cute blue nails. It’s nice to see her a bit more casual (although she looks older than when she’s in her formal little dresses),” they wrote.
Another individual in the Reddit thread couldn’t help but try and predict young Charlotte’s future from this photo. They wrote, “Blue nail polish, jeans, and ring on her index finger. Future rebel? I hope one day she has the strength and confidence to run as far away from the royal institution as she possibly can.”
Well, we wouldn’t quite go that far, but there is a certain sense of carefreeness that’s coming through that’s nice to see.
Kensington Palace shared a birthday video for Charlotte. People can’t help but make comparisons to who she looks like within the family.
In a video compilation posted by Kensington Palace, you get to see a number of shots of Princess Charlotte just being a kid and enjoying some time doing the things that she loves to do.
You get to see her out on a boat with the dogs and leaving a message on the beach in seashells. There’s even a shot of her showing her athletic side while playing cricket.
A lot of people in the Reddit comments immediately noticed a resemblance to her father, Prince William, in these new video clips. One person wrote, “Charming video! She favors her father enormously, more even as the years pass.” Another individual shared how they see both her father and two women in the royal family who came before her. “It’s crazy how much she looks like Prince William, but also at the same time looks a lot like the late Queen and Diana, in my opinion. Put her next to her dad – spitting image. Next to the Queen – spitting image. Next to Diana – spitting image,” they wrote.
