Princess Diana Reportedly Revealed Harry Was ‘Unwanted’ by King Charles in New Audio

It sounds like the tension between King Charles and Prince Harry might go back even farther than we originally thought. According to reports, new audio from Princess Diana's interview with biographer Andrew Morton is set to be released in an upcoming documentary about the late royal, including her telling the story of Charles' disappointment that his second son hadn't been a baby girl. And now that the audio is out there, Harry is reportedly "blindsided" by hearing the truth about how his father felt about his birth.

The audio reportedly includes Diana telling the story of what happened at Harry's christening.

According to Radar Online, in the audio — which is set to be included in a 2024 documentary — Diana talks about the reaction her mother, Frances Shand Kydd, had when she found out how Charles really felt about his second child.

"My husband won't even talk to Mommy, barely, because at Harry's christening, Charles went up to [her] and said, 'You know, we're so disappointed. We thought it'd be a girl,'" she said. "And Mommy snapped his head off and said, 'You should realize how lucky you are to have a child that's normal.' And ever since that day, a shutter [has] come down, and that's what he does when he gets somebody answering back at him, so to speak."

By "normal," Kydd likely meant healthy — and although gender disappointment can be a very real thing for expecting and new parents, it's upsetting to hear that Charles would share his disappointment in such a callous way, especially on a day when the family was celebrating his newborn son.

Sources say that Harry was 'blindsided' by the audio clip.

Radar Online reported that a royal insider told the National Enquirer that Harry struggled hearing this story in his mother's words.

"To hear that you were an unwanted child is a terrible thing, and it hurts more since his father was always a cool customer and, of course, his beloved, caring mother is gone," the source said.

Charles is supposedly in no rush to take back his comments, either.

"Even worse, word is Charles isn't backing away from his past comments. I'm told he feels a daughter wouldn't have betrayed him as Harry has by trashing the family publicly and quitting his duties to live in the states with wife Meghan," the source said.

"And of course, if Harry were a girl, there would be no Meghan," the insider continued. "Now, with his failing business schemes and his alienation from his family, this final blow is likely to have him emotionally teetering on the brink."

This isn't the first time we've heard that Charles wanted a girl.

In fact, Andrew Morton did include that information in his book, Diana: Her True Story.

In the book, Morton writes that Diana said, "Charles always wanted a girl. He wanted two children, and he wanted a girl. I knew Harry was a boy, and I didn’t tell him."

It can't be easy for Harry to hear this information.

No child — even ones who are royal and all grown up — should have to feel unwanted by their parents, especially after Harry lost his mother from a very young age.

If this intel is true, this upcoming documentary could end up being a very interesting one.
