Royal Watchers Think Eugenie’s Baby Announcement Was Timed to Upstage Meghan Markle’s Birthday

Princess Eugenie and husband Jack Brooksbank just welcomed their third child into the world, but the way the couple shared the news has people thinking she’s actually trying to get “revenge” on one of her family members that’s been years in the making.

Royal watchers have a theory that Eugenie announced her baby’s arrival on Meghan Markle‘s birthday intentionally to steal her thunder because Meghan has done the same to her.

The royal family announced the arrival of Eugenie’s little one on August 4.

Sharing the first photo of her baby girl that was taken by Eugenie’s husband, the royal family’s official Instagram account wrote, “Her Royal Highness Princess Eugenie and Mr Jack Brooksbank are delighted to announce the safe arrival of their daughter, born on Monday, 3rd August 2026, at 6.20pm, at a hospital in Lisbon, Portugal.”

They added that the baby weighed in at six pounds and nine ounces, and that “their Majesties The King and Queen and other members of The Royal Family were delighted to be informed of the news.”

Eugenie also shared the same photo in a post on her personal Instagram account, writing, “Jack and I are so excited to announce Baby Girl Brooksbank!! We are beyond in love with our girlie.”

Their baby girl, whose name has not been shared publicly, is Eugenie and Jack’s third child, joining big brothers August and Ernest.

Royal watchers think this was Eugenie’s way of getting ‘revenge’ on Meghan.

Since Eugenie’s daughter was born on August 3, people think that she (and the royals) intentionally announced her birth a day later so that it would upstage Meghan’s 45th birthday.

But why would Eugenie want to upstage Meghan? Perhaps because, as Harry revealed in his memoir, Spare, he and Meghan shared the news that they were expecting their first baby, Archie, at Eugenie and Jack’s wedding.

“At Windsor, just before a drinks reception for the bride and groom, we cornered Pa in his study,” he wrote, adding. “He was delighted to learn that he was going to be a grandfather for a fourth time; his wide smile warmed me.”

On X, royal watchers are convinced Eugenie did this intentionally.

“They could have announced it yesterday. That was totally on purpose get back. Classic,” one person wrote.

Eugenie is still close with Meghan and Harry, though — at least, as far as we know.

There’s a chance that the timing of Eugenie’s baby’s birth announcement was just a coincidence, of course. After all, has she ever been known to be that petty? Not to mention the fact that she’s stayed close to the couple even after their royal exit, which probably wouldn’t be the case if she was actually holding a years-long grudge.

While Harry and Meghan probably could have found a better time to tell their family they were expecting than a family member’s wedding, at least they didn’t steal the mic at the reception and announce it to the whole crowd. Now that would have been a revenge-worthy offense.
