Prince Harry is gearing up to take his kids to visit the UK for the first time in four years, and there’s one question on everyone’s minds: Is he planning on seeing the royal family while he’s in town? So far, there’s no clear answer, but it does seem like there’s one person who is really hoping no meet up between Harry and his dad materializes: Queen Camilla.
Prince Harry is reportedly planning a family trip back home in July.
Earlier this month, the BBC reported that Harry and wife Meghan Markle are planning to bring their children, 7-year-old Archie and 5-year-old Lilibet, to the UK for the first time since 2022 next month.
Even after walking away from royal life, Harry has remained very involved with the Invictus Games, and July will mark one year until the 2027 event in Birmingham, England.
Previously, Harry has made it pretty clear that he doesn’t feel safe bringing his family to the UK with decreased security detail, so did something change?
“The UK government’s protective security system is rigorous and proportionate,” a government spokesperson told the BBC. “It is our long-standing policy not to provide detailed information on those arrangements, as doing so could compromise their integrity and affect individuals’ security.”
A source claims Queen Camilla is vocally against a reunion with Harry.
According to what a royal insider told Closer, Camilla tried to avoid saying anything about Harry to Charles, but she recently decided she couldn’t stay quiet anymore and let her husband know that she thinks that reuniting with his youngest son would be a “grave mistake.”
“As far as she’s concerned Charles needs to stop being naïve and see them for the threat that they are,” the source said. “She can’t even fathom that he could possibly forgive Harry for what he and Meghan said about them in their Oprah interview, let alone what he wrote about them in Spare.”
Still, it sounds like Charles is considering spending time with his estranged son.
The fact that Charles still supports the Invictus Games is troubling to Camilla and reportedly raised “alarm bells” in her head.
“She’s warning Charles that whenever Harry and Meghan are given an inch, they inevitably take a mile,” the source said. “They have this very aggressive and righteous side to their personalities where they just want to get front and center of everything and Camilla can’t fathom having to smile and deal with that.”
However, Charles does highly value Camilla’s opinion, so her lack of approval could end up being the only thing that keeps him from meeting up with Harry… unless, of course, fatherly love wins out.
“Clearly, [Camilla has] had a lot of influence so far, she stopped the meeting in America and she’s torpedoed the cozy summer reunion plans Harry was pushing for,” the source added. “But that doesn’t mean this battle is over, no one is waving the white flag just yet and Harry is clearly going to keep on pulling at his father’s heartstrings no matter what.”
