Queen Camilla Rewears Another Royal’s Wedding Tiara & Fans Immediately Dragged Her

While the royals certainly have access to more resources — both financial and otherwise — than most people do when it comes to what they wear, it’s not unheard of for them to wear the same pieces multiple times. Kate Middleton especially has her favorite dresses and accessories that we see again and again.

But this time, Queen Camilla has been spotted wearing a tiara that was featured on the head of another royal on a pretty big day in her life … and now that she’s donning it herself, she’s totally getting dragged for it.

Camilla showed up wearing the tiara at an event at Windsor Castle.

As People reported, Camilla was spotted wearing the Greville Emerald Kokoshnik Tiara at a reception for the Diplomatic Corps that was held at Windsor Castle on Tuesday. There, she joined Prince William and King Charles.

The tiara originally belonged to Queen Elizabeth, but its history goes back even further than that. It was created in 1919 by Boucheron for Dame Margaret Helen Greville, and now, it’s stayed in the royal family for more than 100 years.

If the tiara looks familiar, that’s because it is.

This is the same tiara worn by Princess Eugenie on her wedding day, when she tied the knot with Jack Brooksbank in 2018.

There was another royal who reportedly had her eye on the tiara for her wedding day, too: Meghan Markle. According to The Sun, a royal insider once said that the emerald tiara was Meghan’s first choice for her ceremony, but apparently, Queen Elizabeth didn’t want her to wear it.

“Meghan had her heart set on this tiara with emeralds and Prince Harry hit the roof when they were told it was impossible for her to wear it,” the source said. “The provenance of the tiara could not be established. There were concerns it could have come from Russia originally. There was a very heated exchange that prompted the Queen to speak to Harry. She said, ‘Meghan cannot have whatever she wants. She gets what tiara she’s given by me’.”

Maybe she knew Eugenie would want to wear it in her own wedding just five months later and was reserving it for her? It would make sense — they’ve always been close, and Eugenie was her granddaughter.

Now, Camilla is getting dragged online.

On Reddit, people are taking Camilla to task for her choice to wear someone else’s wedding tiara to a reception.

“I think she wants to wear as many tiaras as she can before Charles kicks it,” one person joked.

Another said, “She looks nice in it but I do think it’s a bit odd to wear someone else’s wedding tiara when there are so many to choose from, and her hair style can carry off just about any of them. It’s not like you whip that thing out and DON’T know that people associate it with Eugenie.”

It is a bit surprising that she’d wear Eugenie’s wedding tiara when surely, there are plenty of others in the royal collection that she could have chosen from. Wonder what sparked that choice?
