President Donald Trump has shared his glowing review of his interactions with the late Queen Elizabeth on more than one occasion, but now, it sounds like that feeling most certainly was not mutual. A new report from the Daily Mail claims that the Queen would mock Trump and his wife, Melania, behind their backs after their meetings, and apparently, she had quite a knack for impressions.
“The late Queen Elizabeth, who hosted Donald Trump three times in 18 months, became adept at impersonating the U.S. President,” the news outlet reported. “Less known, however, is that the monarch also had a take on his rarely heard wife, Melania.”
A source told the Daily Mail that the way she portrayed Melania made it clear that she felt sorry for Trump’s wife.
“A source, who was present when she was asked to render the First Lady, says that HM would go silent, put on a bored face and eventually mutter: ‘I want to be alone’ à la Marlene Dietrich. It seems the Queen felt sorry for the latest Mrs. Trump,” the report said.
This isn’t the first time that there have been reports that Elizabeth wasn’t a big Trump fan. Multiple sources have emphasized that she wasn’t his biggest fan, including royal expert Craig Brown, who wrote that she thought Trump was “very rude” in his book A Voyage Around the Queen.
“A few weeks after President Trump’s visit, for instance, she confided in one lunch guest that she found him ‘very rude’: she particularly disliked the way he couldn’t stop looking over her shoulder, as though in search of others more interesting,” Brown wrote in his book.
Trump, however, doesn’t appear to buy into these claims. While talking to the Daily Mail in August 2024, he even claimed he was her favorite president.

“I heard I was her favorite president,” he said. “And you’ve heard that too. She would say it to a lot of people.”
Back in 2019, Trump told Fox & Friends just how much fun he and Elizabeth had together during their meeting that year.
“I have such a great relationship, and we were laughing and having fun,” he said at the time, via The Hill. “And her people said she hasn’t had so much fun in 25 years. Then I got criticized for it because they said we were having too much fun.”
