Rainn Wilson Catches Fellow Passenger Watching ‘The Office’ on His Flight

Talk about being unaware of your surroundings. An airline passenger was spotted watching The Office while sitting next to one of the series' stars. Rainn Wilson, who played antagonist Dwight Schrute on the beloved comedy, hilariously captured the moment on video.

Rainn shared the clip in a since-expired Instagram Story.

A masked Rainn posted the video that was taken inside the cabin of the aircraft. "When the person sitting next to you has no idea who you are," he wrote over the video, which panned from a man wearing headphones while he ate a snack to footage of Rainn from his NBC smash hit.

The man had no clue how close he was to Dwight.

If the passenger had looked over, he would've realized that he was seated directly next to the man who played the oft annoying but mostly loveable owner of Schrute Farms.

The half-hour comedy ran on NBC from 2005 to 2013, and thankfully, the Daily Mail was able to capture stills from Rainn's Instagram Story before it expired.

A lot of people still watch 'The Office,' even after all these years.

It's hard to believe it's been a decade since we last caught up with the employees of Dunder Mifflin, especially with how popular the series continues to be.

In 2021, Variety magazine shared a report from Nielsen, revealing that The Office was the most streamed show of 2020. When people found themselves locked down in an effort to stem the spread of COVID-19, many of them turned to the series for a laugh. In fact, the report says Americans binged more than 57 billion minutes of the show that year.

This isn't the first funny fan encounter Rainn has had.

With so many people still watching the show it's inevitable that Rainn would have the occasional run in with a fan.

A 2019 encounter with a fan made it onto Rainn's Twitter feed when he shared the story of a "super fan" who couldn't remember his name. Rainn said the kid in question kept calling him Dwight and telling him how much he loved the actor.

When the kid couldn't correctly say Rainn's actual name, the television star left him in the dust.

We can't help but wonder if the passenger eventually saw Rainn's post.

Hopefully Rainn revealed himself after he finished taking the video and offered the unsuspecting fan an autograph or selfie (not to mention, asked for permission to post his video on Instagram where Rainn has 3.2 million followers).

We imagine it would've been the thrill of a lifetime for the fan.
