Richard died on July 13.
At the time, TMZ reported that Richard had been found dead at his residence by his housekeeper one day after he celebrated his birthday. Later, the news outlet shared an update that Richard had fallen at home the day before he died but reportedly didn't seek medical attention because he didn't want to spend his birthday at the hospital.
Lenny has already reached out to Richard's fans who are also mourning the loss.
In a message he shared on Richard's official account on X (formerly Twitter), Lenny wrote that he wanted them to remember his brother "for the genuine joy and love he brought to people’s lives."
"So don’t be sad. Celebrate his life!" he continued. "He was very excited about all of the upcoming ventures he was working on. We are in shock. Please respect the family at this difficult time."
Richard's staff later shared another post that he intended to share before his death.
They explained that he always prepared his posts ahead of time, so the one he'd intended to post that weekend was ready to go.
It featured a photo of Richard in a space suit, along with the caption, "Let me fly you to the moon so we can gaze among the stars."
