A new royal baby is always an exciting thing. No matter how little, there's always a chance that child will ascend the throne one day — or end up in some other prominent world position — so it's fun to follow along as royal families expand, getting a glimpse into what their futures may look like. These days, the royal baby watch is pretty much a part-time hobby as royals seem to be dropping hints and clues — that they may be planning for, hoping for, or actually expecting a bundle of joy — left and right. This year has led to a bit of a baby boom, so it wouldn't be surprising at all if we start seeing some royal baby announcements over the next several months.
Rumors have been swirling about royals for months — from Kate Middleton, to Princess Eugenie — being pregnant, and because the royals have a tendency to hold off on their pregnancy announcements until a bit later, we bet we'll be seeing some royal baby bumps soon.
Fans Are Suspicious of Princess Eugenie & Jack Brooksbank
The daughter of Britain's Prince Andrew, Princess Eugenie and her husband, Jack Brooksbank, have been a couple for more than 10 years. Though they just got married in 2018, fans have long been awaiting their first baby. Rumors of Eugenie's possible pregnancy came to a head earlier this summer.
In August, Eugenie Appeared To Be Disguising a Baby Bump
The princess and her husband were seen arriving at the family home in Balmoral, and in the photos, she looks a bit rounder in the tummy area than usual. Plus, she was sporting a somewhat baggy anorak and appeared to be using a large package to disguise — or perhaps to distract — from her mid-section. It's possible she just put on some weight in quarantine, though.
People Have Suspected Princess Beatrice of Being Pregnant Since Before She Was Even Married
Back in 2019, just weeks after her engagement, Princess Beatrice, Eugenie's sister, sparked pregnancy rumors. In fact, people started placing bets on her pregnancy announcement, assuming these two would make a "we're having a baby!" reveal after they tied the knot. Welp, Beatrice and Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi got hitched over the summer, and we wonder if we'll hear anything soon!
... But Maybe She Is Now
It's been more than a year since those rumors surfaced and there's been no baby, so she likely wasn't pregnant back then. But Beatrice and Edoardo have been married for more than two months, and it's fairly common for royals to start having babies shortly after marrying. Beatrice could very well could be pregnant now — or will be sometime in the next few months.
Kate Middleton Is a Baby-Making Machine
Rumors that Will and Kate got pregnant with their fourth baby during stay-at-home orders have really been ramping up over the past few weeks. The couple already have three kids, the first two of whom were born less than two years apart. Kate seems to just pop out babies with such ease, doesn't show until late in her pregnancies, and bounces back super-fast, so it's definitely possible. Plus, there's always the pressure on her and Will to secure the throne.
Kate & William Genuinely Enjoy Parenthood
Although to some it may seem that William and Kate already have enough chidren and may not even be planning for a fourth, the Duke and Duchess seem to genuinely enjoy parenting — and it honestly seems to come quite naturally to them. We love watching them with their children and can totally picture them with another.
Subtle Changes Have Sparked Rumors
Royal fans and experts have started to pick up on subtle clues that a baby announcement from William and Kate is imminent. Some say Will is suppressing smiles in public, the couple seem more affectionate of late, and that even Kate's new hair suggest that she may be expecting. Apparently, she has a habit of changing up her 'do at the beginning of a pregnancy.
Pippa Middleton Might Be Expecting Her Second Child
Though not technically a royal, Pippa Middleton is the sister of one of the famous royals alive, and as such, we say she counts. Plus, because Meghan and Harry have become less accessible to the Brits, they've taken more of an interest in Pippa, and she's quickly been wrangled into the royal baby rumor mill.
She's Become the Subject of a Bump Watch
Pippa and her husband, James Matthews, have been married since 2017 and had their first child nearly two years ago. Considering Pippa's nearing 40 and James is well over that, it wouldn't be surprising if they have a second child soon. Fueling the rumors are the fact that in most recent sightings, she's wearing looser clothing than usual.
Lady Gabriella Could Be Planning for a Baby
Queen Elizabeth's cousin once removed, Lady Gabriella Windsor, married beau Thomas Kingston at Windsor Castle in 2019. She's a lesser-known, more private member of the royal family, so we don't see much about her in the rumor mill, but it's very possible she'll jump on the baby bandwagon now that she's married.
She Got a Late Start
Having waited to get married until her late 30s, Gabriella got a later start on her childbearing years — so even though she got married only a little over a year ago, she could be itching to start a family as soon as possible. She seems to get on really well with William and Kate, and we're sure the youngest royals would welcome a new cousin to run around with.
This Royal Doesn't Want to Be King, But He Might Want Another Baby
When we talk about royals that keep a low profile, Alexander "Orly" Lascelles would be at the top of the list. Orly is the son of the eighth Earl of Harewood and is 61st in line for the thrown. (Orly has been quoted as saying he thinks being king would be "quite boring.") He does, however, enjoy spending time with his wife and children.
Orly Married in 2017
Orly married his wife, Annika, in 2017, and they had their first child together not long after. Orly also has another child from a previous relationship, but if we had to guess, we would say he and Annika would be keen on having another child sometime soon. They seem to have a really quaint and happy life together, away from the chaos of the senior royals.
Meghan & Harry Must Be Mentioned
It probably goes without saying that there could be a second baby on tap for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. Members of the royal family closest to the throne seem to have their children in rather quick succession, and because Archie is now over a year old, many fans and followers are on high-alert baby watch.
The Sussexes Are Finally Settled in California
It's been more than six months since Meghan and Harry stepped away from their duties as senior members of the royal family, and they have finally settled down in the US. They recently purchased a massive home in Santa Barbara, and signed a lucrative deal with Netflix — all of which seem to have them set up perfectly to have another baby. Now that they no longer have the pressures of being senior royals and have to started to build their own lives, they should be able to focus more on growing their family.
