Kids are always going to be kids, even if they're royal. Their status has never stopped the royal children from misbehaving — and much to their parents' chagrin, many of their naughty moments are caught on camera and run online and in newspapers to last forever.
Believe it or not, the royal children have been caught being naughty, and it just goes to show that they've all had their moments. From Prince William and Prince Harry to today's royal kids, like Prince George and Princess Charlotte, here are the funniest times the young royals stepped out of line.
Prince William Isn't Impressed by Fergie's Wedding
At 3 years old, the whole wedding thing wasn't exciting for Prince William. He let out a big yawn during Prince Andrew's wedding to Sarah Ferguson and was generally antsy throughout the ceremony. Today, William is super professional all the time, but he was a bit of a naughty child at times.
Prince Harry Is the Class Clown
Of the two brothers, Harry is definitely the naughtier one. He kept up his rebellious antics for a lot longer, too. Here, he sticks his tongue out at the press during a Buckingham Palace balcony event. Making this face at the media was one of Harry's favorite things to do as a child. Princess Diana seems pretty over it.
Mia Tindall Channels Her Inner Prince Harry
Harry's not the only royal who enjoys making a funny face. Princess Charlotte has als been captured sticking her tongue out at photographers, and little Mia Tindall, Zara Tindall's daughter, did the same to a friend during a horse racing event a few years ago.
Kids will be kids!
Princess Beatrice Isn't Having It
The royal children don't do many public events, but they can usually be spotted on the balcony for special occasions. Young Princess Beatrice wasn't interested in the 50th anniversary of the Battle of Britain, though, not even when her mom tried to cheer her up with a smile.
Prince George's Tantrum Down Under
Kate Middleton and Prince William took their son with them on a tour of New Zealand and Australia when George was only a few months old. As such, he did what most babies do: cried. A lot. There are a bunch of photos of him melting down on that trip, but we can't blame him for that. He was young.
George Was Upset on Charlotte's Big Day
George briefly made Princess Charlotte's christening day all about him when he had a mini meltdown on the walk to the church. Kate was busy with baby Charlotte, so William took a moment to comfort and calm his young son down. Will and Kate may be royals, but they're parents first.
Princess Charlotte Throws a Fit
Charlotte's also had her upset moments in front of the cameras, just like her brother has. In 2017, she fell down on the tarmac at the Hamburg airport and started to cry. Good thing mom was right there to pick her up and help her tears go away. That's what we're there for!
All Dressed Up & Deeply Upset
Princess Beatrice looked so cute in her frilly pink dress at a polo match in 1991. But she was clearly having a miserable time as she walked alongside a bodyguard sobbing loudly. We're not sure what upset her, but she let the world know exactly how she was feeling.
Mia Tindall's Meltdown
Taking a page out of the Princess Beatrice book, Mia Tindall screamed for the world to hear at a horse event a few years ago. Zara picked up her wailing daughter, but not before the cameras captured her meltdown. These poor royal kids rarely have a moment of peace, huh?
Kate Middleton on Meltdown Mommy Duty
She may have been in a dress and heels and at a royal engagement, but the Duchess of Cambridge switched into mommy mode the second George needed her. When he started throwing a fit, she quickly scooped him up. We love seeing the duchess go into parenting action like this.
George Gets a Scolding
At the same time, Kate also knows when her kids need a scolding rather than coddling. When George was being naughty at his Aunt Pippa's wedding, Kate turned around to give him a talking to. Weddings are definitely not the place to misbehave, and the Duchess of Cambridge wasn't having it.
Mia Playing With the Queen's Things
We think this photo of Queen Elizabeth with all of her great-grandchildren is so cute, but one of the most adorable parts was born out of one of the kids misbehaving. Mia Tindall's dad revealed that "she was being a bit naughty," so the Queen gave Mia her purse to hold.
It made for a great photo.
Savannah Phillips Is So Over Her Cousin
Often, when the royal children misbehave, the adults are there to shut it down. This time, though, it was George's cousin, Savannah Phillips, who took things into her own hands — literally. She told George to be quiet during the Trooping the Colour, and when he wouldn't listen, she just put her hand over his mouth.
Kate Comforts an Upset George
Savannah and George's rivalry continued during a polo outing, where Savannah was the one misbehaving on that occasion. She got caught pushing George down a hill, causing him to have a total meltdown. Luckily, Mama Kate was on hand to calm George down and comfort him.
Charlotte Had a Rough Day, Too
This polo outing was tough on both of Kate's kids. Charlotte also got upset midway through the day, and Kate had to sit and cuddle her little one until she felt better. We love this sweet mother, daughter moment. Kate is always there for her kids when they need her.
Princess Leonore Acts Up in Church
Just like George tried to make Charlotte's day about himself, Princess Leonore of Sweden tried to steal the spotlight at her little sister's christening. Leonore did it by getting on the floor of the church and rolling around. Her mom looked so mad.
... And She's on the Ground Again
The ground seems to be one of Princess Leonore's favorite places, because she often just sits down during royal events. Her mom is always trying to get her to stand back up for the cameras, but Leonore has a mind of her own. She's basically Sweden's Prince Harry, it seems.
Prince Christian Doesn't Want His Picture Taken
It's common for royal families to do official photo shoots to release pictures to the public now and again. But Prince Christian of Denmark was not happy to be there, and he started bawling in his dad's arms while the photographers tried to take the pictures. So instead of one big happy family, they got this.
Neither Does Princess Alexia
Princess Alexia of the Netherlands was also less than thrilled during a photo session on the family's annual ski trip. It was probably a combination of the cold and the media's eyes on her that caused this meltdown. (We don't blame her!) We wouldn't want everyone watching us try to ski either.
Mother-Daughter Time
The usually cheerful Charlotte had a moment during the 2018 Trooping the Colour where she just needed some mom time. Even though the world was watching and Kate was standing inches from the Queen, she bent down to attend to her daughter. Kate is always mother first, royal second, and we love that.
