When it comes to springtime style, nobody does it better than the royal family. Of course, when we think about the professional help (and the budget) that members of the monarchy like Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle have at their disposal, it makes sense that they always look their best — but there's something about royal fashion in the spring that seems extra special. From Easter looks to the floral and pastel-colored outfits they pull out of their closets this time of year, their March, April, and May style is unmatched.
Queen Elizabeth has matching sets on lock, while Princess Diana's retro style during spring is still impacting the way we dress today, and of course, the other royal women's fashions are pretty impressive, too.
Here are 20 of the royal family's prettiest springtime looks. This is giving us a lot of inspiration for how we want to dress this spring — though we'll admit that Kate and Meghan are both hard acts to follow!
Bright Spring Greens
Who says springtime is only about pastel colors? Here, Kate's wearing a bold green belted dress to the Chelsea Flower Show in May 2016, and she looks totally spring-ready. It's not often that Kate pulls her hair back like that, but it's an adorable half-updo.
All Floral-ed Up
Nobody does spring like the Queen! After all, the monarch is known for her matching sets in cheerful colors, and it helps that she's presented with a bouquet of flowers basically everywhere she goes. Here, the flowers on her hat are a nice complement to the ones she's holding in her hands.
Powder Blue Suit
Royal women with bouquets — here's another one. Diana was often treated to flowers during her royal appearances, which only made this powder blue suit give us even more spring vibes. It was the perfect outfit for a spring luncheon that Diana attended in April 1995.
Nude Is the New Pastel
When compared with the other royals, Meghan Markle has never really been that into bright colors or pastels but boy, can she rock a nude pink! Sure, this photo was taken in the summer during Trooping the Colour, but this is a spring look if we've ever seen one.

Ready for Anything

Unfortunately, spring isn't only about wearing pretty dresses — it can actually get quite rainy, which requires the proper outfits. Here, Kate is dressed for rain and getting down in the dirt, when she got to feed a lamb during a 2017 visit to a farm, an essential spring activity.
Coordinating for Easter
Princesses Eugenie and Beatrice looked like a perfectly coordinating pair when they attended church on Easter Sunday in 2017. They both opted for more neutral colors, but their fascinators grabbed all the attention, especially with the fancy adornments on top of Eugenie's head.
Cozy But Springlike
When we said the Queen has the perfect spring wardrobe on lock, we really meant it. Here, she's wearing an upbeat pink, but in a cozy coat and coordinating hat to make sure she's not chilly during those London Aprils that aren't always as warm as it gets in some parts of the world.
The Prettiest in Pink

Kate's been known to pull a pink look out of her closet on a pretty regular basis, but we're loving this shirt dress. She wore it during her spring 2022 tour of the Caribbean with Prince William, and it was cheerful enough for the season while also offering her a bit of protection against those sometimes chilly spring winds.
Low-Key Florals for Spring
Meghan's never been one to go for an all-out floral look, so this is the closest we're going to get to that from her — not that we're complaining. This pretty green floral dress looked so cute on her when she attended the Invictus Games reception in April 2018 (less than a month before she officially became a member of the royal family).
An Unexpected Color Combo
Pink and purple? Two colors that are totally predictable during spring. But what's not predictable is how they're combined in this suit that Diana wore during a visit to Hungary in 1990. It would have been impossible for her not to stand out, even if she wasn't royalty.
Mod Moment

Of course, the royals couldn't show up wearing just anything to Meghan and Prince Harry's 2018 wedding, so Eugenie brought her A-game. She looked like a member of the Mad Men cast rocking this powder blue dress and white hat. So adorable and fresh for spring!
A Day in the Garden
In 2019, Kate seemed excited to show the Queen and William the garden she designed for the Chelsea Flower Show — as she should be! And of course, both she and the Queen looked springtime perfect for the event, with Kate in florals and Elizabeth in a lime green coat that covered up a floral dress of her own.
Making a Magenta Statement
The royal ladies have often worn polka dots, but the color of this dress is what really brings those dots into spring. The magenta hue is bright as can be, but so were so many things about Diana's style (and her personality).
Stripes in Spring
Here's Meghan, again with the unexpected spring choices! This neutral striped jumpsuit reminds us that florals aren't the only perfect pattern for spring — and paired with a blazer, Meghan remained all business when she met with the Commonwealth Youth Forum in 2018.
A Royal Purple
Queen Elizabeth is back in another matching outfit — this time, all in pastel purple. Everything from her coat to her dress to her hat coordinates perfectly as she helped open a new elephant care center in the UK (though she looked very serious about it when this photo was taken).
Scattered Florals

Somehow, the Chelsea Flower Show always pulls the best spring looks out of our favorite members of the royal family — Beatrice included. We're loving her nude colored dress covered in florals. The low-key background really helps the pattern pop.
Garden Party Ready
When the Queen throws a garden party, you better believe it's going to go off without a hitch — and that the hostess herself is going to show up dressed to the nines. Here's Elizabeth, hosting the 2019 party at Buckingham Palace, wearing a pink suit complete with a floral brooch and hat.
Knit in Neutrals

At another garden party held at the Palace, Kate showed off another perfectly chosen option for spring: a cream colored knit dress with cut outs. The cut and neckline of this dress are just so pretty and feminine, and she left her accessories low-key with pearl drop earrings.
Baby Blue
Another outfit, another example of Diana rocking those dots. Here, she's on her famous New Zealand tour with Prince Charles, and looking gorgeous for a formal evening out. The color of this polka dot dress is stunning on her, and the glittering tiara doesn't hurt, either.
Bright Blue
Here's another royal who wore blue for spring. Though the Queen's take on the color is a bit bolder than the dress that Diana wore in the '80s. Leave it to the Queen to wear a color this bright. We're also loving her matching hat and those decorative buttons on her coat.
