Months after Sean “Diddy” Combs became the subject of multiple sexual assault and sex trafficking allegations, he is in police custody. On Monday, Diddy was arrested by federal agents while he was at a midtown New York City hotel after he was indicted by a grand jury. At this point, the charges he was booked on are unclear, but according to his lawyer, he knew ahead of time that this was coming.

Diddy was arrested on Monday night.
A statement issued by US Attorney Damian Williams that was shared on X (formerly Twitter) confirmed that the singer has been taken into custody.
“Earlier this evening, federal agents arrested Sean Combs, based on a sealed indictment filed by the SDNY,” the statement read. “We expect to move to unseal the indictment in the morning and will have more to say at that time.”
He was at a hotel in Manhattan at the time.
A source told People that Diddy was arrested by Homeland Security Investigations, but other details have not been made publicly available at this time.
Meanwhile, TMZ has shared unconfirmed reports that federal agents searched Diddy’s hotel room before taking him to Manhattan’s FBI field office. He was reportedly spotted out and about earlier that day with his 26-year-old son, King Combs, and was seen meeting fans and posing for selfies with them.
His attorney called it an 'unjust prosecution.'
“We are disappointed with the decision to pursue what we believe is an unjust prosecution of Mr. Combs by the U.S. Attorney’s Office,” lawyer Marc Agnifilo, shared in a statement, via People. “Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs is a music icon, self-made entrepreneur, loving family man, and proven philanthropist who has spent the last 30 years building an empire, adoring his children, and working to uplift the Black community. He is an imperfect person but he is not a criminal.”

Diddy knew he was going to be arrested this week.
“To his credit Mr. Combs has been nothing but cooperative with this investigation and he voluntarily relocated to New York last week in anticipation of these charges,” his lawyer said in the statement. “Please reserve your judgment until you have all the facts. These are the acts of an innocent man with nothing to hide, and he looks forward to clearing his name in court.”
Earlier this year, surveillance footage surfaced online that showed Diddy physically assaulting former girlfriend Cassie in a hotel in 2016.
At the time, Diddy apologized for his behavior in a video on Instagram that has since been deleted, telling followers that at that point, he had “hit rock bottom.”
“I take full responsibility for my actions in that video. I’m disgusted. I was disgusted then when I did it. I’m disgusted now,” he said in the video, via Entertainment Weekly. “I went and I sought professional help. After going to therapy and going to rehab, I had to ask God for his mercy and grace. I’m so sorry. But I’m committed to being a better man each and every day. I’m not asking for forgiveness. I’m truly sorry.”
