After watching the first season of the Hulu reality series The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, it’s no, well, secret, that some of the women have more conservative views than others. Although there is nothing wrong with a group of women with intersecting ideas about politics and the world, some fans who saw a comment on social media where Layla Taylor claimed to not be a Trump supporter refuse to believe her.
Now, in a Reddit thread about the social media post, others don’t believe that Layla isn’t a MAGA supporter. To some fans of the show, it just isn’t fathomable for any of the women, whose religion is based on specific and conservative Mormon rules and customs, to diverge from a conservative political affiliation to a more liberal one. That includes Layla, who has been with the ladies as a member of MomTok for years.
Some ‘Secret Lives of Mormon Wives’ fans think Layla Taylor supports MAGA.
Someone on Reddit made a post with a screenshot from a TikTok video that featured Layla and the other ladies of MomTok. In case you need a refresher, MomTok is the name of the group of women who star in The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives. They gave themselves that name because they started out making content together on TikTok. They each blew up in their own ways, but they do still come together for content for the sake of MomTok and collaborative content creation.
After a video was shared on TikTok featuring the women, someone commented below it to say that the women “love Trump,” but Layla was quick to comment to the person and deny that she is a Trump or MAGA supporter.
In the Reddit thread that shared a screenshot of this, some commenters came to Layla’s defense. She is mostly drama-free on the show, after all, and many can’t see her being problematic with controversial views outside of the reality show.
Others, however, don’t believe that Layla isn’t a MAGA supporter. They shared as much in the comments on Reddit.
“I’ll eat my hat if she’s not lmbo,” someone wrote.” I don’t see how you can morally align yourself w only people and groups who do support him then expect the viewers to believe that you’re “different” like nah.. we aren’t stupid.”
Another added, “How could Mormons be anything but conservative?”
Being conservative within your religion, however, does not necessarily equate to conservative political beliefs or leaning one particular way because of your religion. At least that’s the case according to another user on Reddit, who wrote, “I come from a very Mormon extended family and funnily enough, a lot of them HATE Trump. They’re still very conservative, but won’t vote for him.”
Others on the thread don’t particularly care who Layla supports. Many just want her to be upfront about it.
Someone else pointed out, “You can be conservative/Republican and not be MAGA/support Trump. There are conservative Republicans who don’t like Trump.”
Another commenter came to Layla’s defense and added, “I think Layla has been caught liking MAGA stuff in the past, but maybe her views have changed.”
For now, according to Layla at least, she is not a MAGA Supporter. But tell that to the fans who still don’t quite believe her.
