Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco‘s relationship has always been met with a good deal of side eye from critics who were surprised to see the two together, but something just works between them. Now, their critics have a brand new bone to pick with Benny: The dirty feet he showed off on the debut episode of his podcast, seemingly all over the couch he shares with his wife.
Benny’s bare feet got all the attention on his podcast.

He’s sitting on the couch, barefoot, and the bottom of his feet are so dirty that it’s impossible not to notice… and it also didn’t help that at the same time, he audibly passed gas. This caused immediate backlash for Benny, who has gotten flak for his hygiene in the past, and some of the posts were pretty brutal.
For example, one person on X wrote, “Selena needs to divorce him and find someone better.”
Screenshots and clips of the moment, which took place during the first episode of his podcast show, Friends Keep Secrets, are now going viral, so Benny’s dirty feet are basically impossible to miss if you have spent any time on the internet at all in the last 48 hours.
Selena seemed to share exactly how she feels about the situation (and her husband).
In a since-expired Instagram Stories post that was captured by fans, Selena appeared to respond to the backlash. Around the same time that Benny’s feet were going viral, the “Single Soon” singer shared a photo of the two kissing, writing below the picture, “I fall more and more in love with you every day my love.”
Benny’s feet might be dirty, but it sounds like that’s something that Selena is willing to overlook.
Now, even Benny is speaking out.
When he appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Thursday, Benny addressed the controversy, and he doesn’t think his dirty feet were that big of a deal — at least, not compared to the way most of the internet was taking it.
“First of all, it’s the facility’s fault. It’s not mine,” he said. “I have great feet.”
Benny then took his shoes off to prove that his feet were clean, and he was right.
Maybe the dirty feet thing was a one-off issue… or at least, for Selena’s sake, we hope it was!
