Selena Gomez is not having it with the plastic surgery rumors. On July 29, 2024, the 32-year-old actress expressed her deep dislike toward claims of her having gone under the knife in response to a 2023 TikTok posted by Marissa Barrionuevo. In the clip, Marissa (a plastic surgeon assistant) was asked to give her opinion on whether she believed Selena had undergone any cosmetic surgery.

Here's what Selena wrote.
In the comment section of the video, the "Love On" singer wrote, “Honestly I hate this. I was on stripes because of flare up. I have Botox. That’s it. Leave me alone.” Many fans suggested that the star meant to write "steroids" instead of "stripes."
People replied to her comment.
In response to her comment, some people seemed to believe that Selena didn't actually listen to the clip. "I’m sure Selena did not watch the whole video because her response doesn’t match to it," one person shared.
"Girl chill!" another person exclaimed. "She had your back in this video!"

The plastic surgeon assistant had a lot to say in the video.
In the actual video, Marissa does seem to be supportive of the singer. "I literally have no idea what she has gotten done," she said in the clip. "I think she has been through so much in her life, especially medically related, so I don't think it's fair to speculate whether or not she's gotten cosmetic things done."
The plastic surgeon assistant further shared, "I do these things when I'm pretty confident that I know what someone has gotten done, but when it comes to Selena I literally have no idea what to attribute her physical changes to."
Marissa posted a video in reply to Selena's comment.
After reading Selena's comment under the original video, Marissa posted a follow-up video personally apologizing to the actress.
"Replying to @Selena Gomez although I always try to lead with grace and mindfulness, I am sorry this upset you (and I understand why it did). I decided to stop making videos like this last year because of the negative impact it can cause. It was never my intention," she captioned the post. "I hope we can move past this and be besties."
Selena replied.
In response to the plastic surgeon assistant's apology, Selena commented, "I love you. Not about you. I just get sad sometimes."
Marissa replied, “Me too sister, I love you! Hope one day we can hug and be friends.”
