On June 13, Shannen Doherty died at age 53. The news came following a long battle with breast cancer, which she shared with fans via social media, podcasts, and interviews.

The actress was most well-known for her roles in TV shows such as Beverly Hills, 90210 and Charmed and films such as Heathers and Mallrats. Shannen also hosted her own podcast, Let's Be Clear with Shannen Doherty, and was set to co-host The House of Halliwell: A Charmed Rewatch Podcast before her death.

Shannen Doherty's publicist confirmed the news of her death.

In a statement to People on July 14, Shannen's publicist, Leslie Sloane, confirmed the actress' death. "It is with a heavy heart that I confirm the passing of actress Shannen Doherty," Sloane told the magazine. "On Saturday, July 13, she lost her battle with cancer after many years of fighting the disease."

The statement also requested privacy for her family.

"The devoted daughter, sister, aunt, and friend was surrounded by her loved ones as well as her dog, Bowie," Sloane's statement to People continued. "The family asks for their privacy at this time so they can grieve in peace."

Shannen's last social media post addressed the uncertainty of her cancer treatment.

On June 25, Shannen wrote her last Instagram post, which featured a clip from her podcast. The actress discussed her cancer treatment plan in the episode, admitting she had "no idea" how long she would be undergoing chemotherapy treatment.

"It's scary. It's like a big wake-up call," she said. "At the same time, I got to say, there is some positivity there. … My molecular structure of my cancer cells changed recently. It means there's a lot more protocols for me to try."

Shannen continued: "For the first time in a couple months probably I feel hopeful because there are so many more protocols now. Whereas before I was hopeful but I was still getting prepared."

Her 'Beverly Hills, 90210' co-stars shared tributes in the wake of Shannen's death.

Brian Austin Green wrote in his Instagram Stories, "Shan. My sister… ..You loved me through everything. You were a big part of my understanding of love. I'll miss you more than I know how to process right now. Thank you for the gift of you ."

Jason Priestley, who played Shannen's brother on 90210, wrote, "Shocked and saddened to hear about the passing of my friend Shannen. She was a force of nature and I will miss her. Sending love and light to her family in this dark time."

Gabrielle Carteris wrote via Instagram, "So young – so sad. May you RIP Shannon. I know Luke is there with open arms to love you."

Her 'Charmed' co-stars reacted on social media, too.

Charmed co-star Brian Krause, who portrayed Leo, wrote on Instagram, "You showed me what strength is. You taught me to be fearless and live with purpose. To know your value and stick to your determinations. Forever loved! Truly heartbroken ."

Ted King, who played Andy on the show, shared via Instagram, "We created a special television couple for the ages. My heart goes out to your family. Rest in peace Shannen, rest in peace. #shannendoherty #andyandprue #charmed."
