Kate Middleton Turns Heads in a Burnt Orange Sweater & Skirt Set — Steal Her Look for Less

Kate Middleton is making headlines for all kinds of reasons these days in the wake of a certain memoir release, but this time, she's getting praise for one of her freshest outfits yet. During a visit to a nursery in Luton, England, on January 18, the Princess of Wales was glowing in a spicy two-piece skirt and top set. There's just one problem: the designer version Kate wore is expensive. But it's possible to snag this look for less.

The outfit Kate was wearing is by Gabriela Hearst.

Hollywood Life tracked down the details of Kate's burnt orange Gabriela Hearst Epper Ribbed-Knit High-Rise Midi Skirt in the color "spice" — which currently retails for $954 on the designer's website — along with the designer's Peppe Cashmere and Silk sweater in the same color, coming in at $474 … and let's keep in mind that both of these pieces are on sale.

Along with the leather belt she used to pull the whole look together, Kate also wore Gianvito Rossi Bespoke Chocolate Brown Suede Boots, which likely came in at around $2,000. Add the $300 Stuart Weitzman clutch she was carrying, and Kate's complete outfit is well into the thousands.

Fortunately, it's easy enough to recreate this look for much less.

This sweater dress from Amazon packs the same punch.

While it's tough to find an exact match to Kate's skirt and sweater set, this sweater dress from Amazon gives the same look for many hundreds of dollars less. This ribbed turtleneck sweater dress comes in a few different colors, but you'll want to grab it in "caramel" to get a color closely matched to Kate's set.

Add a brown leather belt.

You'll want to accessorize your look with a dark brown belt — if you don't already have this wardrobe staple in your closet, that is. This one from Madewell is on sale and made of real leather, so it should stand the test of time, whether you're wearing it to show off your royal-inspired style or with another look entirely.

Wear a pair of brown boots.

At her royal outing, Kate was wearing a pair of suede Gianvito Rossi boots, but you don't have to spend $2,000 on footwear to complete the look. Instead, try out these Charter Club boots in the color "chocolate" from Macy's that come in at a fraction of the cost.

Tote your stuff in this clutch.

Kate has always been known for carrying clutches with her wherever she goes — after all, what does a princess actually need to bring to these engagements? Unfortunately, not all of us are royal, so it's a good thing this Fossil clutch has plenty of space for credit cards, a driver's license or ID, and other small essentials.

Don't forget a little sparkle.

On Wednesday, Kate topped her look off with Kiki McDonough Citrine Drop Earrings — a pair she's worn quite a bit over the years since she first debuted them in 2009. But if you don't have more than $600 to shell out, a creator on Etsy designed this convincing dupe for a much more reasonable price, substituting the citrine for topaz crystals.
