‘Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants’ Stars Defend Blake Lively Amid Justin Baldoni Lawsuit

The cast of the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants is still there for each other when one of them needs it most. After Blake Lively’s sexual harassment lawsuit against her It Ends With Us costar Justin Baldoni became public over the weekend, Alexis Bledel, America Ferrera, and Amber Tamblyn joined together to release a statement in support of their longtime friend.

News of Blake's lawsuit broke on Saturday.

When It Ends With Us was released earlier this year, it became clear there was beef between Blake and Justin, the two lead stars of the movie about a relationship that involves domestic violence. As the cast promoted the film, there was backlash against Blake, and in her lawsuit, she has accused Justin and his team of planning and executing a smear campaign via “social manipulation” against her.

In the same suit, she also accused Justin of sexual harassment.

Now, her 'Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants' costars are speaking out.

“As Blake’s friends and sisters for over twenty years, we stand with her in solidarity as she fights back against the reported campaign waged to destroy her reputation,” read the statement, which Amber and America shared on Instagram. “Throughout the filming of It Ends with Us, we saw her summon the courage to ask for a safe workplace for herself and colleagues on set, and we are appalled to read the evidence of a premeditated and vindictive effort that ensued to discredit her voice.”

'The hypocrisy is astounding,' her friends wrote.

“We are struck by the reality that even if a woman is as strong, celebrated, and resourced as our friend Blake, she can face forceful retaliation for daring to ask for a safe working environment,” the statement continued. “We are inspired by our sister’s courage to stand up for herself and others.”

Amber shared a more personal message of her own on her Instagram Stories.

“I was a confidant for my sister Blake while she went through some of this experience. I remember how incredibly painful it was for her,” Amber wrote.

“I’m glad all of this has come to light with solid reporting and receipts. I ask you to please read the full article and specifically, the legal complaint at the link,” she added, referring to the New York Times coverage of the suit that she linked to in her Stories.

At this point, it seems that Justin is denying Blake's claims against him.

In response to the Times‘ story about the allegations, attorney Bryan Freedman said, “These claims are completely false, outrageous and intentionally salacious with an intent to publicly hurt and rehash a narrative in the media,” and he went on to accuse Blake of planting “negative and completely fabricated and false stories with media” about Justin.

Meanwhile, Blake issued a statement to the newspaper of her own. “I hope that my legal action helps pull back the curtain on these sinister retaliatory tactics to harm people who speak up about misconduct and helps protect others who may be targeted,” she shared.
