Sophie Turner is single again after she and Peregrine Pearson went their separate ways in September, but maybe not for long? According to a new report from the Daily Mail, Sophie recently went on a “secret date” with Chris Martin — yes, the Coldplay frontman who is nearly 20 years her senior. This is not a celebrity couple that we predicted we’d see in 2025!
The outlet reported that the two went out together about a week after Sophie and Peregrine, a British aristocrat, were seen “bickering and arguing” at a high profile wedding in September, following months of rumors that the former couple had decided to go their separate ways.
Chris happened to be single at the same time, since he and longtime girlfriend Dakota Johnson broke up in June 2025, so it seems like the stars happened to align for him and Sophie to go out … if this intel is correct, of course.
Despite the age gap between Sophie and Chris (who are 29 and 48, respectively), the two do have a few things in common. They’ve both been married before — Sophie to Joe Jonas, and Chris to Gwyneth Paltrow — and they’re both parents. Plus, it probably helps that they also know what living life in the spotlight is like.
But if they’re truly seeing each other, neither of them have made any comment about their potential relationship, though Sophie has always been a big fan of Chris’.
As Page Six noted, Sophie’s ex, Joe, once surprised her with a birthday message from the singer.
“This is Chris from Coldplay. I wanted to say on behalf of me and the even more handsome members of our band,” Chris said in the video, which was shown on Joe’s series, Cup of Joe, in 2020. “I hope you are having the best day. I send you all my love and I hope you’re having a great time. Thanks for being awesome. Bye.”
Sophie was so excited at the time that she had to promise she was “not going to cry on camera.”
No word on whether or not it was a one date thing or if they plan to see each other again — or if this reported date actually took place at all. Time will tell if these two turn out to be the next big couple. Move over, Justin Trudeau and Katy Perry!
