Steve From ‘Blue’s Clues’ Shares Emotional Video After 2024 Election Results

Steve Burns is back with yet another emotional video — and this one comes right on time. The actor, who is most notable for his role as host for the Nickelodeon Nick Jr.’s show Blue’s Clues, shared a video to his TikTok and Instagram of him out in nature saying absolutely nothing — and perhaps that is just what most of us need at this moment amid the 2024 election results.

Steve hosted Blue’s Clues, the famous children’s show, from 1996 to 2002, and if nothing else, we’re grateful for this childhood staple who still seems to just get us.

The video is one minute of silence.

In the one-minute video that is set outdoors, Steve walks into the frame with two coffee mugs. He holds them both up towards the camera, then sets one down as if handing it to the person on the other side of the screen.  He then leans over the fence and takes a long, deep breath.

Throughout the rest of the video, he stares off into the distance, taking a few moments to stare directly at the camera. As the video concludes, he gives a slight nod. There was no caption with the post.

The clip went viral.

Steve’s video quickly went viral, garnering more than 1 million likes, over 30K comments, and over 60K saves. Many of the interactions were from people who grew up on Steve’s time hosting Blue’s Clues. This was his first post since August 2024.

People were super emotional.

Many of Steve’s followers couldn’t hold back their emotions.

“I bet you didn’t think you’d still be raising us all these years later, Steve, but thank you for still being here,” one popular comment read.

“He didn’t say A WORD and said everything at the same time,” another user wrote. “This man should be guarded at all costs and I also want to marry him lol 😅.”

Other users referenced back to Blue’s Clues.

“Can we please go sit in the thinking chair and think, think, think about what tf we’re gonna do now? 😭,” one person wrote.

“Pls open the handy dandy notebook and draw us a clue because idk what we are going to do 🥺,” someone else commented.

And some people also expressed their concern for Steve.

“Are you ok Steve?” one asked. “We’re here for you too.”

“So much responsibility on Steve’s hands to make sure we are okay,” someone else added. “We need to make sure he’s doing okay too. I mean I’m not doing great, but he’s still looking after the kids he raised.”

Steve previously opened up about his decision to leave the show.

In a 2022 interview with Variety, Steve opened up about his decision to step away from Blue’s Clues. “I didn’t know it yet, but I was the happiest depressed person in North America,” he said. “I was struggling with severe clinical depression the whole time I was on that show. It was my job to be utterly and completely full of joy and wonder at all times, and that became impossible. I was always able to dig and find something that felt authentic to me that was good enough to be on the show, but after years and years of going to the well without replenishing it, there was a cost.”

It’s OK. We still love you, Steve.
