Taylor Swift’s Dad, Scott Swift, Has Been Accused of Assault in Sydney

Taylor Swift just wrapped up her Eras Tour stops in Sydney, Australia, where she also got to spend time with boyfriend Travis Kelce, but it sounds like this part of her tour will be memorable for a totally different reason. On Monday, news broke that Taylor's dad, Scott Swift, is being investigated after allegedly assaulting a member of the paparazzi. And now, it seems the situation is so serious that police are getting involved.

'TMZ' has shared a video of the incident.

It's hard to see exactly what's going on in the video — and yes, Taylor is the one hiding under that umbrella — but according to what the New South Wales Police Media Unit told TMZ, whatever happened has led them to investigate the situation. They say they received a report about an alleged assault in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

The photographer involved filed a police report.

His name is Ben McDonald, and he told police that a 71-year-old man presumed to be Scott got into a "physical altercation" with him at Neutral Bay Wharf around 2 a.m.

Interestingly enough, as Page Six reported, Nicole Kidman has a restraining order against the same paparazzo after she found an electronic listening device had been planted on her property in Sydney in 2005.

Ben is speaking out.

According to what he told The Daily Mail, Scott "charged at him and punched him in the chops" after he and his group (which included his famous daughter) disembarked from a luxury yacht they'd been on.

The photographer said he's not sure what triggered Scott's alleged attack.

"In 23 years of taking pictures, I have never seen anything like it," he told the news outlet. "She got off the boat, she walked towards security guards who were shoving umbrellas in our faces."

Taylor's rep said things went down a little differently.

In a statement to TMZ, a rep for Taylor shared their side of the story. "Two individuals were aggressively pushing their way towards Taylor, grabbing at her security personnel, and threatening to throw a female staff member into the water," the rep shared.

Taylor's dad is beloved among fans.

Since the beginning of her career, Taylor's dad has been a fixture at her concerts. So far, he's joined her on the Eras Tour, chatting with fans in the audience and even handing out guitar picks with his daughter's face on them.

Time will tell what really happened, but from everything we've seen of Scott before now, the situation is definitely an unexpected one.
