On August 19, the Teen Mom fan Instagram account @TeenMomFanz reported the news that Gary Wayt is allegedly engaged to someone else less than two months after he was declared "missing" and after he split from the reality television star. Although Gary hasn't confirmed nor denied the news, Amber did take some time to offer her congratulations.

Gary will reportedly be getting married before the year ends.
According to the fan page, Gary is supposed to be tying the knot later this year. "#Exclusive: Just two months after fleeing across the country to breakup with #AmberPortwood, @teenmomfanz has learned that #GaryWayt is now engaged and will be marrying his new fiancé later this year," the post read. "We can confirm Gary proposed to his new lady friend last weekend at a restaurant in Seattle, Washington. This is a shocking twist I personally didn’t see coming. The 34-year-old television personality responded to the news of her ex's engagement by exclusively telling Us Weekly, “Congratulations.”
On June 25, 2024, a source reported that Amber and Gary called off their engagement after he disappeared on her. “Amber took off the engagement ring and it’s the best thing,” the source said at the time. “She is sad and she cares about him, but she is willing to see that he is not the right guy for her. She wants to be with someone who accepts her fully.”
Another source says Amber is still trying to wrap her head around everything.
According to another source, Amber is still trying to understand everything that happened between her and Gary. "She is still reeling from the whirlwind experience,” the person told the news outlet. “As long as Gary realizes that he will always be Amber’s ex, best of luck.”
